With the already established technology to create clones from DNA remnants, scientists now look to implement this research to create a widespread eugenics program in the Empire. The goal of this program is to safely manipulate the DNA of fetuses such that when they are born they are predisposed to enhanced physical and mental capabilities, as well as resistant to disease. If the program accomplishes its goal, the Bokonist populace would see near extinction of genetic and birth defects within a few generations. |

Preliminary research into the human genome, which allowed scientists to copy DNA from already exsisant organism. Has sped along the process of understanding that which fundamentally constitutes human on the smallest of scales. Never before have attempts to manipulate DNA as to create an entirely new person been successful. As such the the idea to modify still forming fetuses, a stage between humanity and cellular life, yeilds hope for possibility of success. Scientists will not require to completely write their own "code" only to replace certain sections of an already forming one. As an added benefit, successful natural birth will hypothetically not lead to any of the longevity issues as seen in the lab-grown clones. Once born these babies will be genetically improved, yet still part of the same species. Initially tests have been conducted to isolate specific areas of DNA, things such as hair colour and eye colour. Scientists believe that once minor cosmetic adjustments are able to be accurately predicted. They will be able to move on to more complex body systems such as improving bone structure, and controlling the endocrine system. |

After a long lapse in communication from the department heading this project, a rapid series of press conferences have been held this week releasing a mountain's worth of statistics, observations, test results, and reports to the public. Topping things off was the world first introduction to a regenerative human. Audiences looked on in shock and disgust as several video files were presented showing over time the ability for children to completely regrow limbs that had been surgically removed. While undeniably major results had been achieved, an uproar of the ethical aspects of the experiments has caused Kurt to come under a rarely seen level of criticism and scrutiny from his own people. While Kurt has released a statement assuring the public every aspect of the subjects well-being is being taken into consideration, many still worry for the many hundreds participating in the project. When asked how much farther Kurt plans to take the project he responded, "I plan to take the human genome to its fullest potential, imagine a world rid of illness, rid of disability, limited only by the effort we wish to put forth not by the bodies we would have been constricted to due to genetics." |
