More of a construction project but we don't have a section for that so here it be. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlTA3rnpgzU Kurt Vonnegut, Wise Man of the Bokoinst Empire, has recently approved grants to begin the slow meticulous process to replace all paved roads with solar panels. Starting with major highways, and moving slowly down the scale to the even simple neighborhood alleyways, the project is expected to take in upwards of decade. Multiple contractors have been enlisted to oversee the process but the magnitude of the project has left a massive hole for the required labour force needed to efficiently replace all the roads. While Kurt has intentions to expand the scope of the project to include driveways, parks, playgrounds, roofs, and bike paths he is quoted as saying "for now let us focus on the biggest aspect of this daunting project, within a generation we will have all of our power needs taken care of, and be one step closer to eliminating all need for fossil fuels." Members of the Bokonist Commonwealth have been contacted to encourage their unemployed to migrate to the Empire's mainland to fill the massive labour force, economists expect to see the nation's growing unemployment problems dissipate and expansion of the size of the already strong middle class. Other nation's, including allies of the Empire, are again restricted from sending migrants into the the Bokonist mainland for work, following the long tradition of isolation that the mainland has held for decades. When asked about this Kurt replied "while we do appreciate the offer to return the helping hand to a nation that has given so much aid to those around the world, we are in a crucial period in our nation's evolution, something we fear may be jeopardized if outside influence would compromise the transition." |

While not much in the ways of excitement has been available to report on this massive project, it is in the publics best interest, we believe, to at least give them an estimate of the rate of completion thus far. Nearly all major roadways have reached completion and are going under final inspections before being opened up to general use, the effort now is focused on more moderate scale roadways connecting less populated cities. More rural roads, crucial to inter-province travel have also been targeted to ensure that no one area of the mainland becomes isolated from the rest. And lastly, the project has shifted to converting all roadways that exit the Empire, mainly concentrating on the roads in Southern Finland leading to the Slavic Confederacy. |
