I like what I am hearing so far. I really like the potential editor and the no player with an 80 or above rating being traded. I will definitly be using both of those. I remember in 2k7 I had a franchise with the d-backs and finished year one. Chris Young hit .331, 34 HR's, and 21 SB's. I belive he was at a 76 and the very next season he went from a 76 to a 68 .

Another example is Matt Kemp hit like .320 with 21 HR's and went down like 5 ratings. Luckily now I can put an end to all of that.

I just really hope the final version of the game includes CPU lineup control. Doubt it though.

I know! I hated that too. I had Ryan Howard once, he was crazy. Would hit like .340, 60 HR's, 180 RBI's. I'm not cheating, most of the games were simmed. But he was like 65 overall and would drop a couple points a year. I don't get it. He was like 35 years old too btw, so thats why he was so low to begin with.

No one ever improved in the other versions. You could have A-Rod blast 60 homers and hit .400-plus and he'd still deteriorate drastically.

The only problem I have with the no trade 80+ option is that sometimes those guys do get dealt in real life when their contract is coming up. It doesn't happen a lot, and it certainly doesn't happen as often as 2k's games portray it (sometimes with guys in the middle or early part of a long-term deal), but it still happens.

This seems like a band-aid and a fix for a symptom rather than a cure to the problem.

Also related to that, way too often a player that is really good gets resigned that, in real life, has no chance staying there because of contract demands and team budget. But in this game they get signed and a bunch of crappy guys get cut to make room money-wise. Way too many also sign extensions during the season.

The problem is that means fewer quality players ever reach free agency and leaves the market bare or dilluted with those above crappy cast-offs.

Exact reason as to why I won't use that option. Guys get traded who are stars. Look no further than a few weeks ago with Johan Santana.

I can agree with Yankee242b to a certain extent. In my d-backs franchise star players from other teams were traded all the time. Including myself, where I would pull of ridiculous trades for star players that in real life never stood a chance of being traded.

Now, I can make sure that I am not tempted to pull off cheap trades like I did in 2K7. Sure, those guys do get traded, but if I can choose an option to make sure those trades dont happen as often as they do in my franchise then I will do it. Lets face it, it would be really difficult to portray realistic trade/ signings between two cpu controlled teams.

Yeah, but you get to control TWO imaginary ones, as well! That's why 2k is awesome: They make up teams to give you more! ;)

And that is 2k's fuck up, lets give them more instead of quality.
