Just like the title says. Post all Trade Rumors, signings, trades, cuts, and anything else relating.

The Yankees' Next Third Baseman
Peter Abraham hasn't taken much time to move on from Alex Rodriguez, already listing out his third base possibilities for the 2008 Yankees.

Abraham starts with the one viable free agent option in Mike Lowell. He adds three trade candidates in Joe Crede, Miguel Cabrera, and Adrian Beltre. And he finishes with two internal candidates in Wilson Betemit and Robinson Cano.

I like the Crede idea (interesting that he's a Boras client). He had back surgery in June and hopes to be ready for the start of the season. He'll be earning around $5MM in a contract year. How about some sort of Crede for Johnny Damon swap?

Joe Girardi has been offered the job as the Yankees' manager, a source confirmed this afternoon.

Girardi is not expected to wait long to accept the offer, which is believed to be for three years and close to $6 million. He will be taking over for Joe Torre, who declined a one-year offer Oct. 18th after taking the Yankees to 12 postseason berths in 12 years and four World Series titles.

Only put rumors and minor transactions in here though. We should make a thread for most trades and free agent signings.

Hows about you make a thread called "New Faces in New Place" or something catchy like that. Make it locked, and you can just edit the first post with all the new updates. Could look like this if you so choose....

"Arizona Diamondbacks
Alex Rodriguez - Signed for Xyears, $XXX Million

Atlanta Braves
Torri Hunter - Signed for Xyears, $XX Million
David Ortiz - Traded from Boston for Julio Franco

"

And so on and on. Basically a quick reference for all the OFFICIAL deals that are done. My thread, the Transaction Wire can be used for all the Rumors, annoucements, comments, and all that other good junk. Ya dig?

I like that idea, so this thread is for rumors and we will have another thread with official transactions.

Yea, this thread is also for announcements and such of the official signings and trades, but the other thread where it gets organized and laid out for people to find what moves their team has made so far in the offseason.

From Curt Schilling's blog:

The list of teams that our family has talked over, that we think would be a fit for next year, should we not come back, are pretty much teams in cities we agree would be ok for our last year, and teams I think have a legitimate shot at being in the post season and/or World Series. Teams we didn’t include aren’t for any one reason. There are a million little things that go into this from stadiums to school districts to travel to spring training to etc. etc. etc. but the list represents the teams after Boston that have some of the off the field things that are big to us, plus the potential to go into October next year.

Cleveland, Detroit, Anaheim, New York Mets, Philadelphia, Atlanta, L.A., S.D., Arizona, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis, Milwaukee

Sources tell ESPN's Peter Gammons that Miguel Cabrera will be available on the trade market this winter.

With the Yankees and Red Sox both in need of a third baseman and the Dodgers, Angels, Phillies and Giants all willing to consider upgrades, the Marlins may figure this is their best chance for getting maximum value for Cabrera, who is two years away from free agency. The problem is that, with his weight up, Cabrera's defense has gone from mediocre to truly bad, and he'd make more sense as a first baseman right now. Both the Yankees and Red Sox have possibilities there as well, but they might not be willing to surrender as much talent to fill a hole that is easier plugged. Nov. 1 - 1:45 pm et
Source: ESPN Insider

_______

If the Red Sox got Miguel Cabrera the only thing that would stop life from being utter paradise would be Pedro.

White Sox are in hot pursuit of Torri Hunter. Hunter loves playing at US Cellular, and it would be a great fit for them.

----Hunter, Williams to meet next week
"The Sun-Times has learned from two sources in the Sox' organization that Williams plans to meet with Minnesota Twins free-agent center fielder Torii Hunter in the next week.

And while Hunter appears to be 1-A atop Williams' wish list -- with Aaron Rowand 1-B -- the feeling might be mutual. Hunter told a person close to the situation this week that he was ''receptive'' to the idea of playing on the South Side.

Why not?

Hunter has said he loves playing at U.S. Cellular Field, where he has hit nine home runs since 2004 and made his share of highlight-reel catches at the center-field wall, and would seem like a perfect fit with the Sox.

Williams might not be alone in the recruiting process when Hunter arrives in Arizona. Dye also lives in the Phoenix area and also is being inducted into the Fall League Hall of Fame. Back in May, the Texas Rangers were rumored to be interested in both Dye and Hunter as a sort of free-agent package, but that fell apart when Dye signed an extension to stay with the Sox.
