I got Alicia Sacramone

Sox signed RP Scott Linebrink to 4 year/19 Mil deal. I'm glad we got a good reliever, im pissed we paid a ton for him. 4.5 Mil/year for a reliever is just dumb. So long Andruw Jones, looks like we are getting some scrubs for CF this year.

Old news but Mets trade Mota to the Brewers for Estrada.

Thank God. Mota was terrible, I'd say we definitely won that trade.

According to MLB Rumors Correspondent Tim Wallace, the Phillies are closing in on a one year deal with pitcher Randy Wolf. Wolf is arguably the most valuable free agent on the market. He leads all free agent starters with 8.24 strikeouts per nine innings and held pitchers to a .273 batting average. However, he has been injured a lot recently but is still capable of putting up wins. Wolf was 9-6 with a 4.73 ERA and 94 K in 18 games, and will probably get a one year deal worth about 6-8 million dollars. More details on this deal as it comes out.

Not sure if there's much validity there, but if they do get him he'd be a solid guy for the back of the rotation if he can stay healthy.

certainly not. A 2 year deal is what it should have been. 2 years/6 mil.

According to a Yankees official, who asked not to be identified because he is not directly involved in the decision, the Yankees have inquired about Chicago White Sox closer Bobby Jenks to set up Rivera.

Jenks had a strong season (2.77 ERA, 40 saves in 46 chances and a record-tying streak of 41 consecutive batters retired), but a deal is considered a long shot. The Yankees' best hope is that the White Sox fail to sign free-agent centerfielder Torii Hunter and thus ask the Yankees for Melky Cabrera or Johnny Damon in a trade.

:noagree: PLEASE NO!! Why trade away our good closer for an aging Damon? Not that I wouldn't take Damon, but certainly not for Jenks. Must have been a slow day in rumors.... :computer:

They wouldn't.

It's just typical East Coast media.

Kerry Wood and Cubs agree to a 1year contract worth 4.2mil.

Quote:

CHICAGO -- Kerry Wood decided to stay home.
The Cubs agreed Monday to a one-year, $4.2 million contract with the free agent pitcher, who had been courted by several other teams for their bullpens.

"It's a very positive day for the Cubs," general manager Jim Hendry said. "Bringing Kerry back was a priority."

Wood's contract could pay him an additional $3.45 million in performance incentives based on games finished if he does end up pitching in the ninth inning on a regular basis. The right-hander received a lot of interest, including several multi-year offers.
