The Astros and Giants are among the teams that have expressed interest in Orioles shortstop Miguel Tejada, sources have told SI.com.
The Orioles are believed to be interested in outfielder Michael Bourn (acquired from the Phillies in the Brad Lidge deal), shortstop Adam Everett and other Astros prospects.
Why would the Astros even want to trade Bourn?

TRADE ALERT
White Sox Get: OF Carlos Quinten
Diamondbacks Get: Minor League 1B Chris Carter
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnered=rss_mlb
I like this trade. We get a good, young outfielder, and someone who can actually get on base. Chris Carter is a big time masher, but we really dont need a 1B for a few years, and a mashing 1B are a dime a dozen. Good trade for the Sox here, not sure how it looks to D-Back fans, im sure Chris and NGO can give some feedback on this as well.
The sox traded their #1 position prospect for Q.
That's nice of them..

Orioles Roberts to Cubs?
- Quote:
-
Despite pulling off several trades in the past couple years, the Cubs and the Orioles will not be able to pull this one off. After failing to sign Kaz Matsui, they are in the market for a lefty hitting second baseman. Brian Roberts, who is no longer considered untouchable, is name that could help the Cubs, but at a price. I'm sure they would initially ask for Felix Pie, just like they have in years past. But they will probably have to settle for a combination of Sean Marshall and another minor leaguer. Roberts batted .290 with 12 HR, 57 RBI, and 50 SB and is under contract till 2009. GM Jim Hendry will definitely be looking around this week, but they aren't too many accomplished lefty second baseman. He also plans to find a right fielder in the upcoming weeks, first setting sights on Japanese outfielder Kosuke Fukudome.
Nationals aquire Dukes
- Quote:
-
The Nationals have acquire Elijah Dukes from the Devil Rays, according to sources. The Nationals, who have longed pursued Dukes, will give up a minor leaguer for him. We will see how Milledge and Dukes, both with attitude problems, react to the adjustment, but it has definitely improved their outfield. In his first year with the Devil Rays, he batted .190 with 10 HR and 21 RBI in 52 games before being placed on the restricted list.
Peavy closing in on extension
- Quote:
-
According to Ken Rosenthal, the Padres and Jake Peavy are closing in on a three year extension worth 17 million dollars annually that will keep him locked up until 2013. "We're moving closer," Peavy's agent, Barry Axelrod, told FOXSports.com. This is a great move on the Padres part. This money is well earned and Peavy is young and capable of being a solid pitcher for the next decade.

#1 position prospect in the whitesox farm system is like a #6 position prospect for most teams. He really isnt anything special to us. Gio Gonzalez, Jack Egbert, Lance Broadway, De Los Santos, and a couple other pitchers are our good players. I think its a fair trade. Average position minor leaguer with + power, for a young OF with good upside.

It's ok.
Quentin has potential but he was flat out bad for us this year. I have always been fond of Chris Carter but he still has a while to go before his ready for the majors. We are just loaded with OF prospects so I am sort of glad we got rid of the least talented one, though I wish we could have gotten some young pitching instead but that would not work.
I think this trade was just more for us unloading some spare parts. Would not surprise me if Carter is traded before he plays in a backs uniform.

I dont think it was a "spare parts" deal, as much as it was a "risk for risk" deal. A risk for the Sox in terms of Quintin rebounding from his torn labrum (reason for poor 2007), and a risk for the Dbacks in that Carter is still 2-3 years away from the Big leagues, and may not pan out.
For us, however, we are going to be starting Quintin right away in left field. It's been a realitively good offseason. Our final pieces really are for a CF (Fukudome, Andruw Jones, Rowand), and then some bullpen help. Bullpen can be fixed with a trade of Joe Crede, so we are actually looking pretty good this offseason.

Im not one to correct spelling errors at all but I am just pointing out that your new white sox player's last name is Quentin, not Quintin
And it was us getting rid of spare parts. You are sort of right though with the risk for a risk but mostly it was us dumping "extras"
