Kenny Williams is going to make some trades soon, possibly during this week... ""I have a definite plan," Williams said Friday in a telephone interview while en route to an Arizona Fall League game. "The one challenge is our free-agent list and how much we can afford and how those players fit. But once those dominoes start to fall, things will start to fall quickly." Williams gave an emphatic "yes" when asked if he can make deals before Nov. 13--the first day teams can make financial offers to free agents. Furthermore, Williams said Josh Fields' permanent position for 2008 would be revealed shortly, which could be predicated on a trade. "It will all be resolved soon," said Williams, who wouldn't share any hints. " http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines
Uh-oh. .....and here come all the head scratchers.
you think so? I am willing to bet we see Crede get traded this week for a CF. Johnny Damon? Maybe Garland goes to Milwaukee for oh....Bill Hall?? Or does Kenny go the route of late, and trade for a handful of prospects I have never heard of?
what?

The Cardinals have targeted postseason monster Curt Schilling as a potential short-term solution for their tattered starting rotation, and the righthander has reciprocated their interest.
Two days after having the interim removed from his title, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak contacted Schilling’s agent, Ed Hayes, Friday morning to convey the club’s interest. Schilling confirmed Wednesday the Cardinals were one of 13 teams he would go to as a free agent.
“I wanted to let him know we appreciated being on the list and made a call to tell him we were going to do our due diligence and we’re interested in talking to him,” Mozeliak said.
This would be a good fit for the Cards.

The Washington Nationals, looking to improve in center field for 2008, have made preliminary contact with the agents for two of the premier center fielders on the market, Minnesota's Torii Hunter and Philadelphia's Aaron Rowand.
Hunter, Rowand and Atlanta's Andruw Jones make center field the deepest position in a generally weak free agent class. Hunter, 32, is coming off a season in which he hit .287 and drove in a career-high 107 runs. In an interview last month with MLB.com, Hunter said he would consider Washington because of the District's large African American population.
aaawwwww Tori Hunter wants to be with his niggas.

More on Jose Guillen... LMFAO

The Mariners will owe Guillen $500,000 after their surprising decision to decline their half of a $9 million mutual option, which Guillen also would have declined. "They just gave me a half-million for no reason," he said from his home in the Dominican Republic, adding he has no hard feelings toward the Mariners. "Maybe I can go buy two new cars with the half-million. You can thank Bill Bavasi for me." That the Mariners were willing to pay him to go away suggests that there's no way he'll be returning to Seattle as a free agent.

Again why Bavasi is a fucking idiot.

I was really counting on Grumpy Guillen blocking Adam Jones for another couple of years.

I thought Guillen was a huge part in this years team, with his bat and attitude. I'd be sad to see him go. Plus, Jones was gonna play left with Ibanez moving to 1B/DH so that wouldn't have been an issue.
Bavasi must have something up his sleeve. God help the M's.

SF rumor...
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...ort=MLB&ID=4484
I do not like the sound of that. Timmy is going to be great, him and Cain are going to be a great one-two punch...I wouldn't be able to live if I saw Lincecum go.
If someone has to go get rid of Lowry. I don't want him to go, but he's the worst out of the big three.

San Diego could make a bid for Eckstein as a leadoff man/second baseman, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
We need a David Eckstein thread.

You guys do realize what kind of position players you could get for him?
Tampa bay has supposedly been willing to depart with Delmon Young or Carl Crawford for Timmy. That would be one of the best moves by the giants in a long time, you have the pitching already, you need hitting, sure Timmy is going to be a stud and him and Cain would be one of the best one two punches in the league but at what cost.
