Long Live Pink Shoes!

All you need to know about Ervin Santana is on the road over 3 seasons and 206 IP he has a 7.14 ERA.

That's not just an awful ERA, but it is HEAVILY weighted, as in it's by no means a freakish anomaly. Something is wrong with that guy.

Yeah, he was killing me on my fantasy team last year. He was just God-awful on the road. I ended up releasing him outright once the road struggles followed him home by the second half of the season.

Worked out for me: I won my third consecutive Yahoo! League championship, coming from behind in the playoff bracket again.

Luckily he will be coached by Don Cooper.

Also, I don't get how to the Swisher deal dosen't make sense. You (Yankee24) act like he has never stepped foot in center field before.

I just don't think that's a great fit for him. I see it as they dealt good parts for something redundant. I know you seem to think this is a steal, and I like Swisher, I really do -- I wish the Yanks had gotten him at some point, considering their obvious issues at first base.

I don't like the idea of Swisher in center. He's only played a grand total of 61 games there and he's spent most of his time at first and in right, both positions he's better suited to play physically and skill-wise in my opinion. I'd like this deal better if they didn't have an overload at all his positions already (first, right and DH).

I certainly don't think this deal is a steal. It's going to hurt losing Gio and DLS, but that doesn't mean I think it made no sense. Kenny made a move to give us a better chance in 08 and 2009, and further hurt our chances in the future without that young pitching.

Yes, Swisher only has 61 career games in CF in his career, however 59 of those were last year, and he had a .986 F% there as well. I bet he is no more than average in CF, but he also has less area to cover now that he is out of Oakland.

Also, he said in an interview, the second he heard he was traded to the Sox, he jumped on a treadmill and is trying to get in more shape to play CF. Not sure that means a whole lot, but whatever.

Well, like I said, I think the deal didn't make any sense. That's fine if you do, but it doesn't change the fact that I don't. I think they picked up something they already have and I think the fact that Swisher knows he's not a physical match for center should tell everyone something. That's great he's going to try to get in shape, I guess.

I do like the deal more if they end up trading Konerko, Dye or Thome, however. That clears a spot for him then.

A quick poll in my office after the deal was announced agreed that this deal made little sense, including an indictment by our resident White Sox fan -- and he's a bigger homer than JCM, here. He agreed that the only way this deal makes sense is if it is followed by at least one more sending one of the three I already mentioned out of the Sox clubhouse.

I would rather see Swisher in RF than anywhere else. If we can trade Dye while his value is still good, then we should do that. I don't want to see Konerko go. Sentimental.

Thome would be the best to trade so then Dye can move to DH, and Swisher to right.

I've heard that rumbling that the M's are interested, but nothing that a deal is coming any time soon.
