Joe can't be too happy about this one.

White Sox re-sign Uribe to a 1yr 4.5mil contract.

Im not. Sure he is great with the glove, but on the offensive side, he is so damn hard to watch. He is the streakiest hitter I have seen, and unfortunately he is more in slumps than not.

I will be seriously dissapointed if this move is not just a sign and trade deal, and we end up with him come April.

Astros are out of the running for Torri Hunter, and Aaron Rowand. With the addition of Bourn.

I would have loved to see one of them play with us but o well

Phils close to re-signing Romero

http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/200711...ing_Romero.html

Quote:

The Phillies bolstered their bullpen and rotation yesterday when they acquired Brad Lidge from the Houston Astros.

Lidge immediately became the Phillies' closer, which returned Brett Myers to the rotation.

But the Phillies aren't finished yet. The Phillies seem close to finalizing a multiyear contract with lefthanded relief pitcher J.C. Romero. There are indications that a deal could be announced as early as today.

Romero went 1-2 with a 1.24 ERA in 51 appearances last season for the Phillies, who signed him to a minor-league contract after the Boston Red Sox released him.

Sources say that Jeff Kent will play in LA one more year.

This is good news if he does. He was one of their main players last season.

Four teams are planned to make major bids for Japanese pitcher Hiroki Kuroda.

The M's, Cubs, Dodgers and Phillies. There are 10 other teams that have expressed interest. Most reports think he'll wind up in Seattle, LA or Chicago.

Kuroda is a career 103-89 in Japan and is 32 years old. Last year he led all Japanese pitchers with a 1.85 ERA and had 70 shutouts from 1999-2007, the most over that span.

The Cubs are also planning on putting major bids in for Fukudome and Japanese star closer Hitoki Iwase.
