If the deal happens we can have a thread dedicated to the reaction, but as of now it's fine just being in the offseason thread.

that was my bad man im usually aware. :)

Lowell Weighs Offers From Red Sox And Yankees
Read Dan Roche's Red Sox Blog

(WBZ) BOSTON Mike Lowell has a major decision to make.

WBZ's Dan Roche has confirmed the free agent third baseman has drastically different offers from the Red Sox and the Yankees on the table.

Roche has learned the Red Sox have a firm offer of a three-year contract worth $36-to-$40 million.

The Yankees have offered the World Series MVP a four-year deal, worth $56-to-$60 million, according to Roche. But they would like him to play first base, if they re-sign Alex Rodriguez to play third.

Lowell hit .400 (6-for-15) in the 2007 World Series with four RBIs, three walks and a team-high six runs.

He set career bests by batting .324 with a team-leading 120 RBIs during the regular season.

He hit .348 in the postseason with two homers and 13 RBIs.

I don't break character until after the DVD commentary

Evidently, the Braves, Angels, Cards and Yankees all made Lowell 4 year offers.

A Boston television station and the Boston Globe are reporting that four teams, the Atlanta Braves, Anaheim Angels, St. Louis Cardinals, and New York Yankees, have each offered Boston Red Sox free agent third baseman Mike Lowell a four-year contract worth between $55 million and $60 million, exceeding the Sox' three-year proposal.

I do not want Lowell on the Yankees

Hes a good player, but he really benefited playing in Fenway. If you compare his numbers away and home, his away numbers arent that impressive if you ask me

Home- 292 AB, 14 Hr's, 73 rbi's, .373 avg, .418 OBP, .575 SLG, .993 OPS
Away- 297 AB, 7 Hr's, 47 rbi's, ,276 avg, .339 OBP, .428 SLG, .767 OPS

I would just stay away from Lowell. He put up decent numbers on the road, but to give him 4 yrs between 56-60 mil is just not worth it

Now that we have A-Rod and Posada back then our offense is still really good. Id rather just put Betemit at 1B and focus on getting SP

I like Lowell and I want him back sentimentally, but business wise I'd rather cut ties.

Lowell will be overpaid this offseason. I don't see the Sox biting on 4 years, either. The Yankees are dumb enough to, though.

I are beast.

Astros trade Prospect Josh Anderson to Atlanta for Oscar Villarreal.

When we got Bourn it was only a matter of time.

I got Alicia Sacramone

$15 MIL a year for Lowell? For 4 years? Ouch. Not touching that one...

Wait, am I missing something? Why would the Cardinals need him?

Are they trying to trade Rolen? Because that might not be as easy as they think.

If they get stuck with him and sign Rolen, then I'm assuming they'd move Lowell to 1B and Pujols into LF.
