http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AlYX...ov=ap&type=lgns What a joke. Way to appropriate your money wisely. $8 Million for a guy that's clearly a back of the rotation starter at this point in his career. If he walks people, he's practically a liability since he gets hit pretty easily. They could have easily taken that $8 Million+ to sign guys like Affeldt and Hawkins. There's not much Starting Pitching on the Free Agent Market, so I don't why they can't just trade for Starters such as Sean Marshall, Scott Baker, etc. |

Like you said, there isn't much SP in FA, so they overpaid to get one of the good ones available. But I'm not really surprised with the this because of the market, so many overpaid people. |

He isn't good though. Plus, something I forgot to mention in my original post, I believe they gave a sandwich pick to the Mets by signing him. They could've spent their money in the Free Agent market to solidify their Bullpen (there's an adequate amount out there in comparision to Starting Pitching), and just trade for a young Starters available such as Marshall or Baker. They would've spent and given up the same amount or less and improved their team more. |

He was 13-8 with a 4.45 ERA, so he isn't bad by any means but not good either. But he is overpaid but they need SP. I dunno. Don't they have a new GM? |

Well the man has done a lot for the organization, not everything is purely business. |

If I'm not mistaken, I thought most Brave fans were angry with him. Not that it matters in any way. The object of the offseason is to upgrade your team, not just make moves for the sake of making moves or rewarding someone with $8 Million which is a lot of money that signed with your top rival just a few seasons ago. If GMs decided to used this kind of logic, then we'd have the Cubs bringing back Sammy Sosa, Mets bringing back Mike Piazza, etc. |

There's a difference Glavine isn't disgraced, and he does fit on their roster, it may be overpaying, but they didn't just get a starter that can't make their rotation. |

Yes. As a blind Braves fan, I like him coming back, but as a smart baseball fan, I hate the deal. |
