He never said right or wrong, he just asked if it was wrong or not. Two different things ;)

Yea well, no one has convinced me that stealing is wrong and Evil2uce suggested that I might be justified in doing it. I would buy my own truck but I want his - it just has something about it that no other truck has. I also need to save my money in order to build a new church for the community. If someone tells me why stealing is wrong then I wont do steal the truck.

I never said you were justified. I was saying there are those who think they DO feel justified by doing it. Just as an impulse thing. Something they have to do.

There are also haters. Can I say stealing is wrong? Sure. But you can't convince someone that has it already set in their mind to do it that it isn't. I could say anything from arrest, to prison, but more often then not, that isn't going to work. If you think you can do it, you're more than likely going to try and do it.

I feel I am entitled to your brand new truck because I donate an annual sum of one million dollars to various charities, spend time with my family despite having unfavorable work hours, and I have three dogs which I kept fed and do not subject them to fighting other dogs. I feel like I deserve your truck.

None of that means you are entitled to anyone's property. In fact, most of that makes little to no sense. What does any of that have to do with the discussion?

Stealing is wrong. Would you want your things constantly taken from you? I doubt it. If stealing were acceptable, people would be stealing from one another all the time -- the same item(s) would get passed around constantly for no other reason than someone else wants it.

This is a stupid discussion and I see absolutely no value to it for the board.

How can you definitively say that something is wrong when you can't tell me why I oughtn't do it. You tell me what stealing is - taking someone elses property - but how does that make it wrong.

Evil2uce, do you think that the action can be deemed wrong in absolute no matter what the stealer thinks about his actions? My answer to this question would be no because I dont think we can say why we oughtn't steal. When we say something is "WRONG," we are basically saying "I think that its wrong."

I also hopes this make the point of this thread more clear.

Stealing is good unless you get caught, cause then you're fucked.

I always steal little things, nothing too big.

stealing is indeed wrong.

drexler, anything that takes away from someone else only for your own personal gain is wrong. Anything that only affects you is debatable on the ethics of it.

Stealing is wrong based on ethics, it is unethical to steal something someone worked hard for to buy. Which is most likely much harder than you would work anyway.

I'll be honest with you. I'm probably the worst person to ask that.

The friends I've collected in the past, the things I've seen ... I see out both windows.

But yes. By society YES it can be, and by law it IS deemed wrong, just depends on the perspective. There are those who see stealing as a means to an end as I said before. Those in society are those at the bottom of the barrel, who make minimum wage and make less than they think they should.

I know it's wrong, and I'll say it's wrong, but I can see why people do it.
