The potential swap was first reported by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, which reported the deal could involve as many as six players, with shortstop Jason Bartlett and reliever Juan Rincon going to Tampa Bay in the deal and shortstop Brendan Harris and outfield prospect Jason Pridie coming to Minnesota.

In addition to the Young deal, the Rays are also moving toward a multiyear deal to sign reliever Troy Percival, ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney reports.

Young, 22, hit .288 with 13 home runs and 93 RBIs in his first full major league season. Garza, 24, was 5-7 with a 3.69 ERA in 15 starts for the Twins in 2007.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2003 draft, Young has struggled to keep his temper in check during his time in professional baseball. He received a 50-game suspension after flipping his bat into the chest of a Triple-A umpire in 2006, and was suspended three games by the Southern League for bumping an umpire while playing for Double-A Montgomery in 2005.

Young is the younger brother of Washington first baseman Dmitri Young

I are beast.

This deal has been completed.

Good for the Twins they get a very good young replacement for Hunter. And the Rays are starting to have a nice rotation.

1. Scott Kazmir
2. James Shields
3. Matt Garza?

Once David Price is ready they have the potential to have one solid rotation.

:o

Twins Get:
OF Delmon Young
SS Brendan Harris
OF Jason Pridie

Devil Rays Get:
SP Matt Garza
SS Jason Bartlett
Minor League P Eduardo Morlan

It's good for me that Bartlett is out of the division, but Delmon Young killed us when we saw him too. This trade makes me nervous... :(

Good deal for both, rare that you see two teams essentially swap to highly regarded young players.

Though this deal may seem to have been won by the Twins, if you analyze the situations in which both teams are in, it is a pretty fair trade. The Twins are looking to replace Tori Hunter, and bringing in Young, who is a stud(though he had a shitty 08), does this(I'm not sure he'll play CF, but he prob. will). And the Rays already have a great lineup, and h OFers in abundance(If Baldelli can stay healthy...).

EDIT: Also, the Rays had a terrible infield defense last year, which is where Bartlett will help out.

This gives them a nice starting rotation looking forward, as they will have Kazmir, Price, Shields, Garza, along with their pitching prospects they have coming up. Who knows if and how long they'll keep Kazmir though.

This also allows the Rays to settle Upton down at one position, and (I read at BP) they will be able to move Iwamura to 2nd, and have Evan Longoria as their Opening Day 3B next year.

Who ends up winning this trade has a lot to do with how good Delmon Young ends up being.

Thats pretty much what I say to. But for now I think it was a pretty equal trade and like Redfox pointed out the D-Rays have one heck of a rotation going on.

So long, and thanks for all the fish...

I think in 20 years, it will be clear that Brendan Harris was by far the best player involved in this trade.
