Finally. Everyone is healthy. If we can stay healthy through the playoffs, I wouldn't be surprised to see them hoisting the cup. |

I get to play at Joe Louis Arena tomorrow. This isn't my first time. It's going to be sick. |

Wings host the surging Blue Jackets at the Joe Louis Arena Tuesday Night. Can we break Mason? I think the key to the game is surprisingly our Defense. |

Very solid 3-0 win.... great all-around effort by the Wings. They were never outhustled by the Jackets even though it seemed like the kind of team they might have a let-down against. Excellent team defense, something they've shown for a while now. Conklin and Datsyuk were the stars tonight. Conklin has given us a surprise in net 2 years in a row. Datsyuk never fails to amaze me. To get 3 goals against this team plus the 2 game against Chicago shows this team has come around this season. |

Ozzie's save percentage this year so far: .882 (not including tonight. Ozzie's save percentage last year: .914 Sooo, with my magical calculation, I'm going to apply his save percentage to the number of shots he's had this year to see how many goals he would have let in this year had his save percentage been what it was last year... Magical calculation: .914 * 726 = 663.564 saves 726 shots - 663 saves = 63 goals scored! 23 less than he has let in this year! All of a sudden detroit becomes the the team with the second best goal differential next to boston. So, even though our defense has taken a bit of a hit as of late, we are letting up a few more shots per game, most of the problem lies between the pipes. I'm getting sick of how so many coaches, players and even fans seem to shy away from laying part of the blame on the goalie. We are always hearing how the goaile "would have liked to have a couple back" or "wasn't getting any bounces", but rarely gets trashed even though it is fairly clear that they blew it. I think I almost threw up when mick was talking after tonight's game about Ozzie saving them in the first! What a joke. Something is definetly up with that guy, he just does not look confident at all, I want my Ozzie of old Long story short, Ozzie needs a few weeks off to get back to basics. Instead of progressing he has taken two steps back. With Stuart being hurt, use this opportunity to bring up Howard or Larsson and give them some starts. We may need one of them come playoff time. Hopefully we won't and Ozzie wil use the break to clear his head and get out of this terrible funk! Arg, I'm so frusterated, sorry for my rant. |

I think I have figured out the problem with our PK and why it has been average this year.... We are being beat at our own game! Our defense is soft around the crease and teams are taking advantage of that. Our defenders dont do a good job keeping the front of the crease clean and teams basically stick a guy up there to block our goalies vision of the blueliners and it works time and time again. Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall, Stuart..just about everyone minus Cheli doesn't do much to clear the area. Teams use their guys like we do Holmstrom and we dont abuse them for it like they do with poor Homer. I would say a majority of the goalies are coming from slapshots and wristers from the blue line because our goalies cant see the puck. If you haven't noticed, take a look at our next game tom. vs Nashville and you'll see what I mean. Thoughts? |

So I was trying to figure our best lineup for the Playoffs and here is what I have... Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmström (The only line at the moment that's a no brainer) Hossa-Franzen-Cleary (But who should Hossa play with? Franzen and Cleary? that's three big bodies but not much chemistry) Leino-Filppula-Hudler (Should Leino be on the third?) Helm-Draper-Samuelsson (Samuelsson bumped to 4th, helm and draper provide speed) Maltby, Kopecky etc healthy scratches (if they can forget about loyalty etc for once? did i forgot someone btw lol) The defense pairing's are easier imo Lidström-Rafalski Kronwall-Ericsson (Ericsson isn't even healthy atm and still he looks better than some D's on this team) Lilja-Stuart (Would be awesome to have two's D's that could be top2 and top4 on some teams as your 3rd pairing) Meech, Chelios etc healthy scratches |

the team has been coasting for most of the year. babcock has had the whole season to get the wings back on track and on the same page and he hasn't done it. to think things are going to suddenly turn around in the last six games is probably wishful thinking. i'm scared no matter who we fact in the first round. if we can get through the first round, hopefully the team will be putting forth the effort having had a few games of playoff hockey under their belt. |

It is what it is. If we get knocked out, it is not Babcock's fault. It's because we were just that caliber a team this year. Although Goaltending could be at fault as that's the hole. I guess you could look at Special Teams too. |
