Ovechkin my new leader for MVP

After a performance like tonight. He just singlehandedly beat the Montreal Canadiens with 4 Goals and an Assist (5-4 OT). They could end up winning the Southeast because of him. Without him, they'd be one of the bottom-3 teams in the NHL.

So long, and thanks for all the fish...

Ovechkin > Crosby

Crosby wouldn't even be in my Top-3; I wouldn't worry about him.

Now, he has that extensive injury too.

I just thought it was weird that Crosby was on EVERYTHING over the past year, Crosby was hailed as the savior of hockey, blah blah blah, and Ovechkin is just as good, if not better.

Mission 17: Complete

Ovechkin is the better goal scorer of the two, but Crosby is a better passer and all-around player.

That being said, if I was starting an NHL team I would take Joe Thornton.

Crosby's the biggest diver I've ever seen. It was a joke that not only he won the MVP, but the fact nearly everyone thought it wasn't even close.

Luongo clearly should've won it last year. That was a robbery. I normally don't cheer on injuries for players, but I laughed when Crosby got injured on a dive. How ironic.

Adding on to what CELTS said, Ovechkin is not only the better natural goal scorer, but he might also be the toughest player in the NHL to knock off the puck. He also can play the physical game much more effectively than Crosby can. His hands are as good, if not better.

Crosby is one of the best passers to ever enter the league and has more speed- he's a better playmaker. His Hockey IQ is also higher. He's one of the best in the game at anticipating and reading plays. He also gets a free pass for diving.

Neither is clear-cut better, it just comes down to what you're looking for.

I don't break character until after the DVD commentary

When they both get past this "young stars" phase and become 26-28 year old centerpieces:

Ovechkin will be able to get his 50 goals every year pretty much regardless of his linemates.

Crosby will be able to be placed on a line with just about any two journeymen and make them into 20-25 goals scorers and get his points.

They're both great players, but Crosby is great with something extra that almost never comes around.

A goal scorer as pure as Ovechkin is something that almost never comes around. I'm not bashing Crosby at all, but I've always said that if I had to choose one, it'd be Ovechkin.

Its a lot easier picking Ovechkin now with the way he's playing and Crosby hurt. We can easily forget about Crosby's incredible playmaking. Frankly though, Crosby needs solid guys around him to make him effective. Ovechkin just does his thing and its incredible how unstoppable he is.

You can almost compare it to who would you rather have; Kobe or Nash?

Brett Hull, Jagr, Kovalchuk, Pavel Bure, Selanne, Healtey

Sure, big time goal scorers are rare, but over the last decade or so there are usually a couple guys around who can put up huge goal totals. What Crosby is capable of doing is to completely carry any linemates while getting a very nice sum of goals each season to boot. There's only one guy who's ever been what Crosby has the capability to turn into.
