There is a reason I don't take these seriously.

For example, I understand this rule:
Quote:

the current first-place team in each conference was awarded the automatic berth.

But it completely screws up the seeding. Anyone that follows College Basketball knows Stephen F Austin is a lights out team- clearly the best along with Sam Houston St- in the Southland Conference, but LaMar gets the bid as they've played easier teams (they are in the easier division of that conference- they lost to Stephen F Austin as well). There is no way in hell LaMar wins the conference tournament. Stephen F. Austin is fully capable of doing this year what Bucknell did in '04-'05 and '05-'06. LaMar is in the play-in game. Whereas, if they put Stephen F. Austin in (as they will probably win the Conference- them or Sam Houston St), the Lumberjacks would be a 13 or 14 seed.

It is also a joke he has Massachusetts in over St. Joseph's. St. Joseph's has a better overall record than the Minutemen, far better in the Atlantic-10 standings, and even swept them this year.

And for the love of God, give the Drake Bulldogs the respect it deserves. That is clearly a 3-seed team. A 6-seed (barring a loss to Butler and in the MVC) is completely ludicrous. Not as bad as George Washington getting a #8 seed 2 years ago, but the most ridiculous seed since.

You're not supposed to take it seriously. It's for fun. And discussion.

Glad to see UMass as a 10 seed. The A-10 is getting a ton of respect this year, a lot more than the Valley two years ago I think.

I would say the Atlantic-10 is stronger than half the BCS Conferences.

I would like Baylor's draw in that tournament. Gonzaga is a beatable team, and I Tennessee doesn't impress me. I could easily see the Bears in the elite 8 in that tourney.

I see. My bad.

There are several flaws in it though imo (i.e.: Stephen F Austin, Oklahoma, Drake, Saint Joseph's, etc.)

This is how I'd see the hypothetical bracket unfolding...

#1 Duke
#8 Mississippi

#4 Notre Dame
#12 Virginia Commonwealth

#3 Xavier
#11 Mississippi State

#2 Texas
#7 Marquette

--------------------------

#1 Kansas
#9 Dayton

#5 Indiana
#13 Davidson

#6 Drake
#3 Connecticut

#2 North Carolina
#7 Saint Mary's

----------------------------

#1 Memphis
#9 Maryland

#5 Butler
#13 South Alabama

#3 Stanford
#11 UNLV

#2 Georgetown
#10 Massachusetts

-----------------------------

#1 UCLA
#8 Rhode Island

#4 Louisville
#5 Kansas State

#3 Michigan State
#6 Pittsburgh

#2 Tennessee
#10 Gonzaga

_________________________________________

#1 Duke
#12 Virginia Commonwealth (wow, what a match up this would be)

#3 Xavier
#2 Texas

----------------------

#9 Dayton
#13 Davidson

#2 North Carolina
#6 Drake

---------------------

#1 Memphis
#13 South Alabama

#2 Georgetown
#11 UNLV

--------------------

#1 UCLA
#5 Kansas State

#2 Tennessee
#3 Michigan State

_________________________________

Elite-8

#1 Duke
#3 Xavier

#2 North Carolina
#13 Davidson (Duke-VCU scenario... in a way... scary)

#1 Memphis
#2 Georgetown

#2 Tennessee
#5 Kansas State

_________________________________

Final Four

#1 Duke vs. #13 Davidson
#2 Georgetown vs. #2 Tennessee

National Championship

#2 Georgetown over #1 Duke

The mid-majors had really good match-ups in this bracket...

:( You bumped Mason after one round.

Probably gonna happen this year -- they can't win away from home.

There's 4-5 seeds there George Mason can beat- Butler is not one of them.
