Did she get an Oscar nomination for Juno?

Best Picture and Best Actress in a Leading Role.

If it wins either of those I might have to stop watching movies for some time.

Man I hope you never become a movie critic. Juno was a great movie, and Ellen Page nailed her role amazingly.

Best picture should go to There Will Be Blood. Hell, even No Country For Old Men is a distant and I mean DISTANT second to it even though it's fantastic.

Juno will not win best picture.

However, I believe she should win best actress. There's no one in that catagory that did better.

They'll give it to Julie Christie though just because she's old.

It was not a "great movie". It was a mediocre and quite funny movie that gets by solely on the novelty of the situation happening to suburban white folk instead of the standard inner-city black folk.

As for Ellen Paige, if by "nailed her role amazingly" you mean "made made the standard sarcastic comments" then yeah, you're absolutely right there.

There is absolutely nothing special about the movie itself or any of the performances in it. It's generated so much hype because of the one quirk in the plot that no one even cares that its an entire movie based off of what is usually a lame subplot in teenage "hood" dramas.

Insightful. I will say, anyone who believes that Juno was the best movie of the year needs to watch more movies.

However, she DID nail her role or let's say, she made her role better than any of the other actress nominees.

Can't give it to Cate Blanchett, she's won this award for like, the same movie.

Julie Christie wasn't even that good in Away From Her. I will say, she'll win it because the voters are mentally retarded and if you're old, you must be a good actor. :sarcasm:

Marion Cotillard was alright in La Vie En Rose. Once again, got a nomination by way of the usual suspects, if you're old, or you're pompous and foreign. :lmao:

Now Laura Linney was pretty good in The Savages. I have to wonder though, how could she be nominated when her co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman was 100000x better than her in the flick. I'm going to guess it's because he was nominated for Charlie Wilson's War but still.

It's all a bunch of "what ifs". :sarcasm:

If Juno was resembled in a black community, it wouldn't have gotten national attention.

But then again, if my aunt had a package, she'd be my uncle.

I guess the Best Actress one wouldn't be that bad given the other nominees, although Linney and Cotliard have just as good of a case and it would also be understandable if they pulled a Paul Newman/Color of Money with Cate Blanchett
