Did I wake you, motha fucka!?

OK, so in the 2008 Free Agency period they seem to be going in the right direction. They get Anderson back, raising the question of Brady Quinn, but after the year Anderson had, I'm pretty sure that Cleveland fans could give a fuck less. They sign Stallworth, adding even MORE depth to their WR/TE arsenal. Much height too. Anderson can pretty much throw up balls and hope they end in the right hands. Lewis signs for more years. They are playing smart ball these days. I bet my dad is happy with the way Cornel has shaped up his team.

I thought Savage was going to build a winner here, and Romeo had us in the right direction. I was initially disappointed upon hearing about their firings.

But I am even more disappointed in the hire. It seems like the Browns rushed and didn't hire the best guy. We could have had Shanahan or Gruden. They tried to get Cowher, but Shanahan or Gruden would have been ideal too. The next 4 years are going to suck.

Cowher wouldn't even think of going there because of going into Pittsburgh every year would be a death sentence for him. :rotfl:

As he awaits the hiring of the team's new general manager, Browns coach Eric Mangini added five assistant coaches, four of whom were on his New York Jets staff.

Mangini hired defensive line coach Bryan Cox, defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson, defensive quality-control coach Andy Dickerson, quarterbacks coach Carl Smith and assistant strength and conditioning coach Rick Lyle on Thursday.

Cox, Henderson, Dickerson and Lyle all spent the past three seasons on the Jets' staff.

"These men are outstanding teachers, and their energy and expertise will have an immediate impact on our team," said Mangini, who was hired earlier this month, just days after he was fired by the Jets.

Meanwhile, the Browns haven't yet announced the hiring of George Kokinis as their GM. Kokinis, the Baltimore Ravens' pro personnel director for the past six seasons, is expected to join Cleveland this week. He had a second interview with Browns owner Randy Lerner on Wednesday and spent two days meeting with Mangini earlier this week.

Cox was an intimidating linebacker for 12 seasons in the NFL before becoming a coach. He played in 165 career games with the Jets, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints. In 2006, Cox joined Mangini on the Jets' coaching staff as the assistant defensive line coach.

Henderson played eight seasons as a defensive back with the Jets, Patriots, Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles. He played in Super Bowls with the Bills and Patriots. He joined the Jets in 2006 as director of player development and was promoted to assistant defensive backs coach in 2007 before assuming the role of defensive backs coach in 2008.

Dickerson was on the Patriots' operations staff before joining the Jets in 2006.

This will be Smith's second stint with the Browns. He was Cleveland's quarterbacks coach under Butch Davis from 2001 to 2003 before he went to USC and helped mentor Trojans QB Matt Leinart during his Heisman Trophy season. Smith spent the 2005 and 2006 seasons as the Jacksonville Jaguars' offensive coordinator.

Earlier this month, USC coach Pete Caroll announced that Smith would return to the Trojans as their quarterbacks coach, but he's going to Cleveland instead.

Lyle played for 10 seasons with the Browns, Ravens, Jets and Patriots before he got into coaching.
well atleast they have the coaching staff in order.

Okay, I have now done thorough research and the Browns and the draft and here is what I think our needs and approach should be.

Draft:
1. Malcolm Jenkins FS/CB 6'1 201 THE Ohio State University-I am extremely high on Aaron Curry but so is the rest of the NFL and I believe he will go top 3. Jenkins is the only person really worth this pick since it is too big of a risk to draft a DE/OLB and getting a RT at #5 isn't the best idea in my mind because we need defense. Jenkins can play FS.
2. Larry English OLB 6'2 274 Northern Illinois-I hope he falls this far but I could see him in the first. Would start from day one.
3. Evander Hood DT 6'4 295 Missouri -Will compete with Robaire for starting job as a rookie.
4. Kraig Urbik 6'5 328 OG Wisconsin- Might be able to start right away to RG.
6. WR Travis Beckum 6'3 243 Wisconsin- Doubt he makes it here but the best idea I had for right now.
