Randy Johnson called it an audition. The 44-year-old left-hander, who six months ago underwent his second back surgery in less than a year, threw off the mound Sunday. He pitched in front of manager Bob Melvin for the first time since his final, unsuccessful outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers last June.

"He came out throwing bullets the first pitch he threw," Melvin said. "As I've discussed before, the arm's not the issue here. I haven't talked to him since he finished, but I think he's probably pretty pleased with the way it went."

Johnson was satisfied with the outing, too.

"I'll just do what I'm doing," he said. "I continue to make progress. I'll throw again on Thursday, take three days off and play catch and do all my workouts, and gradually get in to the other little things I'm not doing now. ... The most important thing for me right now is to get on the mound."

There's no rumors thread, but here's one:
Chicago Sun-Times

Rowand wants Crede in San Fran
Two weeks into spring training, Aaron Rowand still is trying to add ''general manager'' to his resume. Speaking with a Sun-Times reporter Thursday, the former White Sox outfielder and South Side cult hero again petitioned for his new team, the San Francisco Giants, to acquire Sox third baseman Joe Crede.

This is pretty old. Rowand has been pining for the Giants to get Crede since KW make the statement saying Fields would NOT play LF, and he and Crede won't be on the same roster together.

Also, ex-White Sox scout Duane Shaffer (now for the Giants) has been also petitioning for the Giants to get Crede.

I am glad that there is some good news coming from him. I think he is scheduled to be ready by opening day, who knows, right now he is a ticking time bomb just ready to get a season/ career ending injury <_<

I are beast.

The Stros haven't looked to good the first couple games of ST. I knew this was going to be a problem for the Stros and it has really shown the pitching hasn't been good. Starters have really done well, but the pen has just been flat out horrible. I can't wait for the first round of cuts so we can kick all the scrubs out.

You know, while I might want to slash the throats of every Baseball Tonight analyst, the return of the show means baseball is really back.

Oh, and the first shit John Kruk said yesterday he went ahead and fucked up. He actually said the Dodgers bringing on Joe Torre was the biggest move of the off-season. I stopped watching immediately. So much for giving the show a chance. :rotfl:

I'm a lead farmer, motherf...

Couldn't have been the Mets landing Santana and signing him to a long-term deal, could it?

Nah, definitely Torre.

Johhny Danks did very well today. 3 IP, 2 Hits, 3 K's, 0 ER.

Sexi Lexi with a 3-RBI triple that he SMOKED into the RF gap. Very nice to see his speed and power, has already drawn many Soriano comparisons (he has the a similar stance, swing, and follow through).

But his leadership will put them over the top and will get them to the promised land. His impact cannot be measured in numbers.
