That's the rule for co-ed adult leagues around here, too, so I just stick to the guys-only league. And yo, they got some crazy baseball leagues around here too...there's a 40+ league, which is kind've odd...and then a 50+ league which is crazy, and then get this, a 70+ baseball league...it's a bunch of old men with walkers making their way around the basepaths, apparently... |

My league has divisions just like that. The first one I was in was 18+ and we just moved up to 25+ last year. There is also 35+, 40+, 50+ all the way to at least 70+ I think. |

Alright. We lost our scrimmage today 16-10. Like 9 of those runs were unearned. We played terrible defense today. I was 3rd in the batting order, and played SS. My first at bat I hit one into left center for an RBI single. My 2nd at bat I smashed one to RCF and got a double. I was going to 2nd and I slipped, but it looked like a slide. lol. Hook slide with my hand holding on to the base. My 3rd at bat I hit a rocket down the 3B line, but the 3B was very atheletic and he snagged it in the air. My 4th at-bat was a grounder that got past the 2B. So I was 2-4, 1 RBI, 2 R, and reached on error. After I reached on that error, I slipped again rounding 1st, and it was really embarrassing. I scraped up my knees and it was ugly. I need to wear cleets next time. In the field I did alright. I had 2 groundballs to me that I made outs on. Then I had a linedrive at me, I dropped it, but still got the play at 1st. Then the next 2 hit to me were in short CF that I was running and tried to catch it over my head. 1 was just out of reach, the other went off my mitt. I should have had the 2nd one, but they were both hard plays over the shoulder. I did alright I guess. Did decent batting, did average fielding. Nothing like practice where I was smashing the ball and throwing leather, I did not do so well in the scrimmage. |

I played intramurals for basketball, softball, flag football, volleyball and soccer. School got in the way of sports at times, so I had to make the difficult decision to skip class here and there... it was only music though, no one goes to music Our softball team went undefeated during the regular season (one tie). We got the top seed and lost in the first round because most of our team was hungover and some of the guys didn't show up because they were too hungover to even get up. As a result, we couldn't even field an entire team... we had 7 players. 930am games on a Sunday morning are a bitch... |

In our last regular season game, I led off with a first-pitch double before we ended up rained out. I'm counting it still. EDIT: From what I can tell, that means I was 8 for 30 this year (.267) with two HBP and a double (.300 slugging, .313 OBP). But, I was 8 for my last 13 (.616) with a .667 OBP. Played a game yesterday with the guys. I think I was 4-7 or something like that. Popped out the first two times, grounded out the third and then I hit a couple singles, a double and a triple. Made a couple nice throws and catches. Had an error though... botched an easy ground ball. |

Had my final practice yesterday. I was a butcher at SS. Like everything was getting past me to my left or right. I am going to just blame it on the field because the practice field we use has divits and holes everywhere, so the ball takes huge as hops, or none at all. But seriously, I should have had most of them. Hitting I continued to dominate, but my D has me worried. We start our tourny on Sunday morning. My friend dropped off some cleats for me so I dont fall around the bases again. lol. |

Today was the big day. Our team made it to the final 4, and finished 4th out of the Midwest. We were the #1 team in all of Indiana, and lost to Kentucky for 3rd. I think Illinois got 1. On offense I went 9-12 with at least 9-10 RBI, and 2 walks. I played 5 1/2 games. I took myself out of the 6th game because I slid into 3rd and messed up my knee. Tore a lot of skin, and was bleeding down my leg. And this was after 6 straight hours of softball. We only had 10 minute breaks in-between games, so we were all already dead. I batted 4th in the lineup in game 1. I went 2-3 with a walk and 3 RBI. I was then, for no reason, moved down to last in the lineup. We tied that game, but lost on a stupid rule where the team that had the lead last, wins. We ralled from 9-1 in 2 innings. Scored like 3 runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th to tie, but that dumbass rule gave us the loss. After that game, I batted last for no reason, we won that game, so our superstitious coach decided to stick with that lineup because we kept winning. So I batted last EVERY GAME but the first game. It was stupid. I was the best hitter all day, and I was last. Whatever. My one big moment at the plate came when I lined a ROCKET up the middle, it nailed the pitcher in the shin. He went down to the ground, I reached 2nd and tried advancing to 3rd because no one was covering. In a footrace to 3rd, I made a SWEET headfirst hookslide to the home side of 3rd. The chick dove at me, and tagged my on the arm, but I was under the tag. I slid around the bag and kept my hand on. I was definately safe, but the ump called me out. BS call, but he had a bad angle. Anyway, the pitcher that I drilled had to be helped off the field and had to have the trainers look at him and he had his leg all wrapped up. I might have broke his shin, but I really dont hope so. I went over and apologized to the guy, he was nice about it though. LOOONNNGGG ass day of 8 straight hours of softball. We were all dead after playing 7 straight games. |
