Why isn't the AS game done at the END of the season?

That way we can avoid the Carlos Quentins, Ryan Ludwicks, Jeff Francouers (technically, no, but if that one good month he's had in his career would have been in May and not July, he would have been in), and JJ Hardys of the world getting in.

Just do it in like Hawaii or Puerto Rico.
Thats horrible

It would be just like the pro bowl then, everyone is going to pull out
It's better than selecting the "All-Stars" of the year based on a tiny 3 month sample size.....

And yeah, Winter Ball would be a problem.
If anyone actually voted based on the 3 month sample size I'd probably agree with you, but it's really based on who plays for the Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox, and occasionally Cardinals, which having ti after the season wouldn't solve.

CHILL

I agree with SL, and this is something I believe in for every sport especially for the MLB though.

The number of times a player is named to the All-Star team is actually deemed credible by the media. And what really upsets me is that the media and voters use this as a factor when comparing resumes for the Hall of Fame. That is a joke because the All-Star game and its selection process is a complete fraud.

Forget the selection process itself for now- we can hammer that thing to death. All-Star selections are solely based on one half of the season, and then these are the same things used for consideration for the Hall of Fame.

It should be All-Star selections after the season concludes. For now, I won't touch the topic of the selection process.

There are so many players that while they could have been selection worthy for the first half, are definitely not selection worthy for the entire season. And that skews countless number of resumes, selections, etc. I'd bet half the roster spots would change.

Burrell better f'n make it considering he leads NL OFers in VORP, EqA, SLG, OPS, & HR and is 2nd in BB & OBP......

I have a feeling Hurdle will leave him out though since he's a slow and not gritty enough..
