Of course I change the channel, and I come back to hear "Could have been almost 600 feet" as I see Thome get highfives. Son of a bitch. I think they meant 600 feet if it didn't hit the CF Fandeck, but it will be measured at around 500 feet. A mammoth blast. In case you haven't seen US Cellular, here is a visual.... I think the ball landed (as I didn't see it) over that statboard thing that reads "HALL" and his stats in straght away CF. The wall is 400 FT, and that screen is probably at around 500, so according to hittracker's website, it might be near 550 feet. |

Son of a bitch. Q just hit a ball up the middle, SS booted it. Alexei coming around to score, he slides, missed homeplate, but was never tagged either. He thought he was safe, ran into the dugout, the Royals appealed to homeplate and got the out. No RBI for Q. :( |

Still.. you just don't trade possibly the best pitcher the Stros have ever had, not to mention a top-10 pitcher the past 7years. He had another quality start, there were just a couple of bad infield plays that should have been caught but they weren't and the runners scored. EDIT: The Stros have lost 6of7 games and have scored 2runs or less in 6games straight.. with any luck Roy could have won this game. Edited by Redfox, Wed Jun 4, 2008 9:01 pm.

Finally got the link for the HR.... http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2008_06_04_kcamlb_chamlb_1 I guess it went even onto the Fandeck. ChicagoTribune posted a blog saying it only went 464 feet. That seems at least 30 feet short to me. Just look at the picture, he hit it ONTO the deck with all the people. Has to be close to 500. Oh well. Can't wait to see what Hittrackonline puts it as. BTW, in those videos from gameday, check out Alex Gordon's diving playing into the stands. It was a beauty. "Almost 600 feet" Consider who is saying it. HAWK- the biggest homer in Broadcasting. I knew right away it would not be true just for the fact alone you heard it from his mouth. I always thought it would be cool if someone hit it out of the park though. |

Well, he said "Would have been almost 600 feet". And I assume means if the fandeck wasn't there, and it was able to fall at field level. I think at field level, it might be close to 560. |

I really have a hard time calling a player who has a career .738 OPS and a 5% BB% in the minors a "helluva player". Let's see some performance before we're amazed by his speed. |
