Should be hitting the market on July 11th. The price-point seems to be the big marketing strategy here. $199 for the 8Gig and $299 for the 16Gig. The original iPhone was about double the price for each size.

Don't know what kind of plan you're going to have to get with this phone though. I'm sure they won't just let you walk out of the store with a $200 iPhone. They're gonna have you paying out the ass for their stupid data plans. If the plans aren't too bad, I'll probably get one. I'm already paying $50/month for my shit phone so what's another couple bucks.

I might get this. But I have a iPod Touch. But I have a upgrade discount at the end of june, plus $200 is about the same price as the other cell phones I was looking at. The data packages are $30 for the cheapest one a month. Then GPS is $9.99.

The way it's going to work is you're gonna pay 400/500 in store, and get a rebate for 200. So you're still paying the full price, but you gotta wait another month or two, depending if you filled out the paper work right. (have them fill it out for you)

The iPhone plan starts at 20, and you get unlimited data = internet/mail, and you get 200 text incoming/outgoing. It's not bad, considering it's less than a dollar a day allowing you to do all that with wi-fi access.

So to get this rebate, I'm assuming you have to sign up for one of their plans? Most likely you would have a small list of eligible plans?

I don't really get this data plan thing (never had one). The plans start at $20... is that just for the unlimited data? Then you have to pay another $30 (give or take depending on what you want) for the actual phone plan? If that's the case, then I'd be all for getting the $20 data plan and a $30 phone plan since that's about what I'm paying now. But then again, I'm in Canada and they rip you off hard up here. From what I hear though, the phones will be the same price as you guys but I'm almost sure they'll get us with the iPhone plans

Do you have a link(s) for this stuff or did you get this from your people?

You pay $20 on top of your current rate plan.

So say, you are on the 39.99 rate plan for 450 minutes.

You're paying 20.00 on top of 39.99, meaning you're paying 59.99 a month, not including taxes and expenses.

Additional for packages are common for every company. You have to pay for text and internet. The only company you don't have to pay something like that on is Sprint for their "unlimited everything" package, which I'll tell you now, is an alright deal, if their service was actually worth the 99.99 they're offering for it.

The "unlimited" deal through AT&T is 149.99 (139.99 for iPhone). Yes, it isn't as cheap, but keep in mind, the coverage and roll over. ;)

BTW. The MIR (mail in rebate) is just for the phone and contract. You don't get it when you buy it out right, which you can only do from Apple. I'm sure there will be a fine print, where you HAVE to have the data feature (NOT PLAN, JUST FEATURE) on there to get the MIR, there always is.

Apparently they upped the Data package. For the iPhone, it now is in the "business" bracket, and the data is $30, unlimited text is still 20. For 200 text $5 still.
