Source Apparantly, Porter was the only candiate that had coaching experience. Will he fits well with Steve Kerr? Your thoughts here. |

I still don't understand why they didn't go after Avery. I mean he has a great regular season record and has been to the Playoff numerous times. If I were one of those teams that desperately needs a new coach (for example: Minnesota, Seattle, Memphis) I would seriously consider dumping their current coach and picking up Johnson. |

The Suns are in a hole; no coach can help them now. It would be pointless for them to pay Avery big money for a few years when they know they are going to be a borderline playoff team. They are no longer a strong force in the West and after next season, I don't think they will be a guaranteed playoff team unless they make some big changes. Shaq is pretty much done but he can help them next season in a limited capacity. Nash has another all-star season left in him, but he's on the decline and will be exploited on defense by the young PG stars in the West. They have an 8-man rotation, so their bench isn't much to brag about. It's all going down hill for them, so by getting a cheap coach, they can spend the money on players and hopefully, rebuild before they hit rock-bottom. Anyone think Shaq will bitch out again and demand a trade to a new team before the end of next season? |
