Here is a small list of rumors that have been popping up in and out of the NBA the past few weeks. Some of these have already been addressed as rumors only but hell Im bored! 1) The Chicago Bulls are trying to trade the #1 overall draft pick to the Miami Heat for D-Wade 2)The New York Knicks are going to try and sign Ron Artest if he opts out of his contract this summer 3)The Detroit Pistons are interested in talking with the Rockets about a swap that would put T-Mac and Battier to the Pistons for Rasheed Wallace and Chauncy Billups. 4)The Denver Nuggets will trade either Allen Iverson or Carmelo Anthony to allow more cap room 5)The San Antonio Spurs will shake up there entire roster. 6)Gilbert Arenas will test the free agent market . 7)The Cav's will need to start dropping some salaries if they wish to make a run at re-signing LJ. (Yeah, still another year away from that) |

I doubt 1 happens especially considering who they just hired as Coach. 2 would be awesome, but Artest would be smart to stay in Sacramento. Pistons would be out of their minds to do 3. Nuggets would be dumb to trade Carmello. The Spurs just need a couple tweaks. Arenas has hit the free agent market by opting out. No idea about 7. |

1) The Heat said they are not trading D-Wade. I don't see why they would. 2) I think Artest is staying in Sacramento. Also, the Knicks need to start over with young talent. Taking on another big contract would be stupid of them... they probably don't even have the trade pieces to acquire him. 3) That's stupid. What are the Pistons going to do with T-Mac, Battier, Rip and Teyshaun? It would be nice if they could get T-Mac but that would not be a smart deal. 4) I keep hearing that Melo is going to get traded. Sounds like it is a legitimate possibility. I don't know why Denver would want cap room though... anyone they sign off the FA market with the cap room they acquire from a Melo trade would most likely be a downgrade from Carmelo. I think they should trade Iverson though. They can start over with Melo and can probably get some young players + picks for Iverson from a team who needs that last piece to become a legit contender. The Cavs come to mind but I don't think they could pull it off. Toronto, maybe? That would be cool... 5) Outside of Duncan, Ginobili and Parker, I do agree that the Spurs need a shakedown. I think it will happen this offseason because time is running out for Duncan and possibly Ginobili. Their bench is depleting and if they don't make any changes, they can forget about even getting out of the second round in the upcoming years. 6) He's already on the market but I think he'll be going back to Washington. 7) The Cavs won't need to drop salaries to resign LeBron (Larry Bird Exception). The Knicks and Nets will need to drop salaries if they expect to make a run for LeBron in 2010. I think he'll stay in Cleveland. Larry Bird Exception: the Larry Bird exception allows teams to exceed the salary cap to re-sign their own free agents, at an amount up to the maximum salary. |

The biggest thing I'm interested in is the rumours of what Miami will do with #2. Once they lose out on Derrick Rose, they apparently aren't high on taking Bease and are shopping it. |

I haven't followed the draft rumours much, but I was under the assumption that Chicago would take Beasley with number one. They do have an abundance of big men, but I figured they would trade away some of them to make room for Beasley. You can't go wrong with Rose but I don't see anything wrong with Hinrich either. I think Chicago could go either way... it all depends on who they want to trade. If they want to get rid of Hinrich, they'll pick Rose. I could see why they'd want to give up on Hinrich so I guess it's understandable. But I thought for sure that Miami wanted Beasley. Their frontcourt could use some upgrading. D-Wade and Rose in the backcourt seems a bit small. I can see both Miami and Chicago making some big trades to accomodate their players this offseason, regardless of who goes where. Maybe Miami would trade their pick for TJ and something else. Beasley would fit in nicely with Bosh. A bit undersized in the post but would still be effective. |

Yea I was thinking along similar lines, except with Calderon. Apparently Miami is very high on Jose (higher than they are on TJ), but we'd have to resign Jose before we could trade him and we can't do that until after the draft. Its kind of wishful thinking since I'm a Raptors fan and would die to get Bease, but maybe a Jose + our 17 pick + more could work. Miami also has been regretting letting Kapono go. I don't really know how it would work with salaries, etc., but I love wishful thinking. |
