That's an odd statement to make considering most of the white comics are funnier than any other race. Well, some of the latinos are funny, but the black ones just piss me off. Ever see BET stand up? Wow. Every single joke is "Da white man" or some stupid "and a brotha" or "So dis sista be like". And they are all stupid jokes. Alonso whatever is the only one I find hilarious, and he was from Last Comic Standing. |

Dave Chappelle is amazing. BET stand up is horrible though, I agree. Heard about Carlin this morning. Sad news. |

Yeah, but Chappell didnt do BET, or at least I hope not. Chappell, Rock, Boden, and a few others are all funny, but the ones on BET piss me off they are so dumb. They are in the same category as Carlos Mencia. Just racist fucks that think they are funny because they can be racist and get away with it. |

Not only was Carlin funny as hell, but he had an impact on politics/law. His "Seven Dirty Words You Can't Say on Television" was landmark and led to a Supreme Court case. His baseball/football bit was hilarious. |

Yeah, his view on politics is why I lack any sympathy for the man. |

I dont necessarily agree with his cynical views of society and politics as much anymore as much as I once did (of course, one has to keep in mind that much of his material is hyperbolized in the effort to make it funny). For example, in one of his stand-ups he claimed that he has the right to complain when the government screws up because of the fact that he didn't vote. In other words, the people that vote have no right to complain for a faulty government because they were the ones who voted them in. I think there is some faulty logic in that and I could understand people's distaste. But it's all funny nonetheless. But one also has to realize that who he was on stage might not necessarily reflect the person that he was off stage. And even if he really did believe whole-heartedly in everything he said in his routines, I don't think that makes him a bad person. Edited by drexlerfan11, Fri Jul 11, 2008 12:13 pm.
