By the way, Soria was fucking nasty last night. How many guys looked like little leaguers up there against him?
Joakim Soria, my boy. :woot:

Home field advantage in the world series doesn't matter anyway, so putting it on the line in the all-star game, which doesn't matter, makes perfect sense. Seriously, if you're good enough to make the world series then you should be good enough to win a game on the road.

Also, from wikipedia (the first thing I could find confirming this): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_field_advantage#Gaining.2Flosing_home-field_advantage

"Prior to 2003, home-field advantage alternated each year between the National League and the American League."
Ah ok.

And SL, I wasnt saying they SHOULD do it that way, I was just asking if they did do it that way. Appearantly, however, they didn't.

I know you weren't. I was just saying making the 7th game "fair" is pretty impossible. Why don't they decide it through interleague? The league that has the better record in interleague gets HFA. Way better than using one exhibition game to decide it.
How does that make any more sense? That's just as bad because of all the rivalry games. Some of those teams have to face a team that is way tougher (the NY's, the Chicagos) then you have Washington-Baltimore and random "rivalry" games determining HFA.

It's just as bad. The best solution is go by record for the year and playoffs. The team with the best record should be the favorite and therefore get the advantage. That's the way playoffs are done in every sport.

Oh, and all they'd have to do to fix the pitchers issue is to take Monday off, do the derby on Tuesday and play the game on Wednesday.

Or allow those guys to be all-stars and yet replace them with someone who is actually available.

No, if the team earned HFA, they should get it and so should their fans. If the Cubs (if they finished with the best record in MLB) win the WS on the road rather than at home, would that even be breaking the curse? :sneer:

Why wouldn't it? The Red Sox did it and they won on the road against St. Louis.

So if they have home field advantage and win in 6 games, it doesn't count either?
