Griffey is a huge upgrade offensively to Brian Anderson.

A guy who he is not replacing. I guess he'll take Anderson's plate appearances. But how many PAs is that going to be? Certainly not that many off the bench, and Griffey isn't exactly a raker anymore.

He put up a .945 and .868 OPS the last two full seasons he played.

And a .352 wOBA, which is above average, but nothing too impressive. Especially for a guy that is a butcher defensively.

While Jr. may have started this season slow, he has really picked up his play as of late.

Last 7 games= 1.072 OPS
Last 14 games= 1.071 OPS
Last 28 games= .944 OPS

Yeah, Griffey certainly isn't as bad as his .316 wOBA, but he's not as good as his .352 wOBA average last season.

Most people around the Reds say Griffey Jr was playing unmotivated for most of this season. Going to a World Series contender will at least rejuvenate him to putting up better numbers than he has for this season as a whole.

Bullshit. He's aging. That's why he's declined. He was chasing 600 for a part of the season; I'd say he was motivated.

He hits the teams the Sox will play the most the rest of this season very well.
Cleveland= .916 OPS
Detroit= .878 OPS
Kansas City= .947 OPS
Minnesota= .940 OPS

Ummm.....

The last time he played any of those teams a significant amount of times was nearly 10 years ago. How many pitchers remain the same on those teams? Unless you actually think a player has the ability to magicly hit one team better than the other.

Just because he is 38 and hasn't had his capable season this year does not mean he is washed up. Jim Edmonds is probley the most comparable situation in Baseball and he has led the best offense in the MLB in Slugging for the last 2 months.

No, but the fact that he plays terrible defense and that he's been pretty unimpressive offensively the past couple of years ago certainly does.

Edmonds = sample size. Let's wait a bit longer until we proclaim he's back and not washed up.

I stopped at the first part and did not even read beyond. Remember to watch Baseball, not everything is about computers. Brian Anderson is the Sox starting CFer, the player Ozzie Guillen has been bitching about all season. Griffey Jr. is now going to play CF for them. I hardly even watch the White Sox and even I knew that.

Yeah, because I spent countless hours of my life playing, thinking, and talking about baseball yet I don't watch it.

What a joke. And if you watch so many games, you'd know that the only reason Anderson has started is because Konerko was injured for a while, which he no longer is.

If you're gonna be a smartass, be correct. :thumbsdown:

uhhh...

I find Hyltzn annoying with computer bullshit and analysis, but Brian Anderson was NOT our CFer, and even Hyltzn knew that before looking at his computer screen.

Games in Centerfield
Swisher= 58
Anderson= 57

And on the Sox website yesterday there was a poll over who should play 1st base between konerko and swisher. If there was a poll then that would leave Anderson in CF. So I had good reason to think that.

I dont watch the sox anyway so I could not care less.
