Milwaukee fires Ned Yost

Completely out of the blue. Milwaukee looked to be ending their 25-year playoff drought. Don't think it can be good.

I can't really blame them. The Brewers had lost 11 of their last 14 and had been caught by Philadelphia in the pennant race with Houston looming right behind. Remember, Milwaukee choked last year too. Both years Ned Yost has tried some blow-up tactic to fire up his team, but it hasn't worked. Yost just probably doesn't get through to his players. Melvin is trying to save a sinking ship for a fall run.

Yeah, their recent slide was all Ned Yost's fault. His negative attitude was just making the team magically start sucking, it was an amazing sight.

(It wasn't the fact that they're still outperforming their pyth. record despite their recent slide, screw those dumb statistics)

You misinterpreted my post, but what is wrong with trying to make an adjustment when your whole organization is on the line? Especially when they have clearly given away a lot of chips to win it this year. This playoff berth means more to the Milwaukee franchise than anyone else in Baseball. Miss the Playoffs, they potentially lose Sheets and Sabathia, and the organization is set back at least a few years for nothing. It's a panic move, but one completely understandable if you put yourself in Melvin's handle.

Disclaimer, I do not have much knowledge over Milwaukee's baseball situation. I will say that I am not a fan of this concept. The couple times I remember this happening in recent professional sports the team collapsed for the worse and underperformed in the postseason.

However, in a sport like Hockey a Coach has much more control over the game than in Baseball. Except in Baseball a Coach can screw up a game or player. Yet Baseball has the most coaches behind Football ironically. A Baseball Coach can't just come in, institute a new system, and the team takes off because there really aren't "systems" in Baseball. But a manager can mess everything up with bad decisions or overusing players. Unless Yost was doing this, I don't see it fixing anything.

My bad. Just seemed you were being satirical and it was aimed at me.

The way I see it is these are the Brewers. The Brewers don't typically get shots at the postseason. This year they need to do whatever they deem necessary to gaurantee themselves a spot in the Postseason. As aforementioned, they probably won't be as good next year. They are currently playing their worst baseball in a long time and there are two weeks left. The Cubs have locked up that Division and they are competing with the Phillies and Astros- 2 teams playing well- for the last spot. They are as desperate as it gets. What harm can it do? It can only help, if anything.

In the Brewers first game since, CC gets his first loss.

Milwaukee went through a stretch every team in Baseball has gone through this season. Bad move imo although Yost isn't a very good Manager. Just not going to work now given the situation.
