Classic?
No. Not at all. Not close. It's a solid album and a nice concept, but it doesn't even come close to being a classic.
You must have not listened to enough classics to know what makes one up, and you seem to make up your mind about albums based on recency bias.
Didn't you just start listening to rap this year because of Lupe?
I've been listening to rap for about 3 years now, and I've listened to extensive amounts of it and a lot of different ranges in talent. From Tech N9ne to MF Doom and my new-found love, Murs to Kanye. Sorry. Anyone who thinks this is a classic has no idea what they are talking about. This isn't even close to being a classic. Not even the best album of this year. History of Violence would be that.
Could've sworn you just got into liking Hip-Hop.
No, lol. I didn't even like Lupe for a long ass time. I really got into him hard once The Cool came out. Oh, okay, my mistake then.
When I say classic, I don't mean like... In an Eric B & Rakim way. I mean it to me, since I hated this guy as much as anyone could, beforehand, and yet I love it.

Ludacris will never have a 'classic' album, nor will he will ever be considered one of the greatest emcees of all time, but he's one of the most consistent artists in hip-hop history in terms of always putting out something people buy and enjoy.
That being said, I enjoy this album.

That being said, I enjoy this album. I disagree with the "Classic album" thing. I think Chicken and Beer or Word of Mouf could be considered as a CLASSIC rap album. When I think of 90/2000's rap, I think of those CDs.

None of his albums would be on my classics list, especially if you factor in the 90's, no way.
A classic to me is like Illmatic, Ready to Die, Paid in Full, Enter the 36 Chambers, The Low End Theory, ect. I think only 15-20 albums in the 2000's would make my list, College Dropout, Be, Stankonia, ect. None of Luda's albums are in the same class as the ones I listed IMO.

I have a hard time classifying either F&L or The Cool as a classic, even in the 2000's, though a lot of people who have extensive rap knowledge do classify either one or the other as a classic. The word classic gets thrown around too loosely.
