The Battle is for the Strong; Episode 2 (Part A)

Sunrise

A cold seat broke from Waver's back as he entered the battlefield, he was naive to think for even a second the real battle would be as simple as the simulations he did. If the simulations Waver practiced on were based on computer programmed enemies, then the battlefield must be the "VS human" option, every individual enemy has their own tactics and movements, and each one of them can potentially take his life. Despite his Gundam Mk-II has an overall better performance compared to Blue Cosmos' mass produced units, in the modern warfare of beam weaponry, every shot is able to kill him. "Damn, whats this...pressure, I feel sick..." Waver panted as he closely trailed Archer's MS as they were heading closer to the battlefield.

From behind the Nahel Argama, Kenneth's Alexandria slithered around the corner of one of the many debris fields, small areas of the shoal zone that have floated out of former Side 5 (now Side 4) left from the terrifying previous war. Kenneth crossed his arms as he sat on the captain's chair, clearly seeing the small flashes in a distance to indicate the intense battle. "Send an encrypted communication, to our fleet. Say maintain the blockade and adjust their angles according to the Alexandria. Launch the 2nd wave of missiles following the launch of their MS team." he commanded. The Archbolt family was originally an English noble family from even before Universal Century, and Kenneth Archbolt was the heir and 9th head of the Archbolt family, a powerful faction in the Federation. With their household based in Side 4, the entire fleet sent out to intercept the Nahel Argama in fact does not belong to the Federation nor Blue Cosmos, but is entirely the Archbolt family's own line of ships. Nonetheless they were officially registered as the 3rd fleet of Blue Cosmos, with their flagship the Alexandria. On the deck of each ship, the Archbolt's family emblem was neatly painted to show their authority. It was a picture of a golden yellow Pegasus with blue wings and a flag behind, its flagpole had a spear head and the flag is decorated with a fortress wall and a jasmine. Kenneth's fleet had such emblem replace the blue flower seen on other Blue Cosmos ships.

Several MS launched from the Alexandria but they were still kept hidden from the Nahel Argama, quickly circling around the debris, the MS remained hidden due to the heavy concentration of Minovsky particles jamming radars and reducing their detection abilities. "Damn, they got us at the worst place possible!" Noa cursed, it was the last thing he wanted to happen, a blockade in between Sides 3 and 6, and the only strategy the Nahel Argama has no other way to avoid without delaying their plans to get to Side 6. "Missile. 10 o'clock direction fire! Mega particle cannons 3 o'clock! Sink the ship in front, we're breaking through!" Noa shouted, Mileina skillfully swiped her fingers over the keyboard on her left and swiftly adjusted the angles of each and every turrets to prevent MS from approaching the ship. It was not like Noa to rush such a daring strategy, however the Nahel Argama must reach Side 6 and deliver the Gundam Mk-II to the hidden research faculty of CRADLE. With one of few ways to get hold of Blue Cosmos technology, the Gundam Mk-II is required to lay basis for any future MS developments for CRADLE.

A blast of beam passed narrowly from the side of Waver's Mk-II, he gasped as he violently turned his MS around and started to search from the enemy. Dont panic, that was a stray shot! Archer called from the radio, the two closely lined up with each other so Archer would be within radio range to watch over Waver if anything happened. While not necessarily a MS pilot of great talent, Archer's skills were polished and refined by practicing the same routine over and over again for years in order to match those with talent, though nonetheless he was only considered an average pilot by her master Rin. Although he had no real special talent in MS combat, there was one thing he did exceptionally well. Archer took aim at a Hizak, and slid his beam rifle slightly towards the right and fired a shot. The bright yellow colored beam pierced the Hizak on the shoulders blowing its left arm and weapon off, knocking if off balance. Archer quickly finished his enemy with a well placed shot through the generator. He was known on board to be good at two things only and one of them is "Archer's eyes are sharp as a hawk".

"Amazing...!!" Waver was fascinated at how Archer destroyed an enemy from a range that in theory was out of the beam rifle's firing range. Waver wanted to try that, but he knew he should not attempt it at a stage like this. Before launching, Waver was told to just feel the atmosphere of the battlefield, there is no need to force yourself to chase and defeat an enemy. As several Hizaks approached, Waver felt the sharp killing intent from them. The Hizak were a modified and upgraded version of the original CRADLE Zakus, captured by the Federation after the One Year War. Its basic designed was similar to its original form, a cyclops in a gas mask painted in dark green. Due to the large number of Zakus captured, they were improved and then put onto further production by Blue Cosmos as a low cost mainstay unit. Its generator was upgraded to sustain beam weaponry, the chest of the Hizak resembled the Federation's GM with flaps to remove heat from powering its beam weaponry. It has two beam sabers stored on its backpack like the GM, and added extra armor and a shield to improve its durability overall. "Theyre coming! What should I do...!!" Waver's hands trembled as he gripped his controls tightly. Letting out a deep breath he got ready to make his first combat, but he yet has experienced the fear of killing others, even if it was a war.

"Veloci, move the Ardent Prayer's angle so that it's always behind the defense line, make sure they won't get a perfect shot at us!" We'll try passing around them first and try shooting them in the back if we can-" before Lilium could finish, Razo's signal on the radar had suddenly jumped ahead of everyone else's and into the debris field. "Like they'll let us do that! I'm going straight ahead! Koenigsegg, Lilium! Cover me!" Razo announced and pulled out his beam rifle and beam saber as he charged on in. Lilium looked at the radar in disbelief and simply sat down, since the MS presence hadn't picked up enough in that area, there was no jamming induced on the Ardent Prayer's systems. "...Totally reckless...What a typical pilot..." Lilium muttered to herself. She'd known from the beginning that Razo's success at the simulations had made him extremely arrogant, but to go charging an entire fleet seemed totally unreasonable even for him.

"New orders everyone!, open fire on the Salamis class we've prioritized, we're going to give Razo and Grace as much backup as possible." Lilium stated. The vast number of turrets scattered around the Ardent Prayer all started to move around for the first time since its testing 13 months ago. The number of guns scattered across the enormous battleship must have totaled into high double figures. As soon as 2 Salamis cruisers were locked onto with all side mounted Wraith plasma guns, Lilium gave the order. "Now fire! Fire all Wraith cannons at those two there!" A hail of blue beams erupted from the Ardent Prayer, the number of beams fired seemed unreasonable to fire at another battleship, possibly even overkill in an age where one good shot could do the job, firing at least twenty plasma beams seemed totally unfair. Both Salamis class were blasted to pieces in an instant. Only a few mass produced GM II's and Hizaks had managed to escape the combined destruction that added more to the debris field of Side 4.

"Here we go then...Let's see how good you are for speed, RX78..." Razo muttered to himself and pressed against the accelerator pedals. The Kojima drive on the 0 Gundam let loose more green particles as it shot ahead with incredible speed. "Enemy units approaching from 6 o'Clock! It's...The RX78 Gundam...?" The navigation officer of an Alexandria class alerted his captain. He wasn't the only one confused at the 0 Gundams familiar image coming after them, he completely blanked out the Heavyarms that accompanied it as a consequence of his surprise. Razo flicked the controls around a few times, each movement the 0 Gundam reflected by immediately dashing in and around chunks of debris. Coming towards a large chunk that a GM II was hiding behind, Razo grinned and flew up over it, and charged back down on the GM II in a surprise attack. "This RX78 can move like I can!" Razo exclaimed and fired a single shot at the GM II's generator, blowing it apart almost instantly.

"Is this all you have, Feddies?!" Razo taunted his enemies to come after him and fired more shots out towards the approaching Mobile Suits. Those that weren't fast enough to evade were mercilessly burned out of existence by the 0 Gundam's beams. Five of the Salamis cruisers and one Alexandria broke ranks in order to confront Razo, firing as many cannon shots at him as they could. Before the beams even got within a hundred metres of Razo, he pulled back on the controls and accelerated upwards, allowing the shots to harmlessly strike against the debris. "This is the agility of the upgraded model, is it...?" Razo questioned, not aware that the reaction times the 0 Gundam possessed were down to his own upgrades and not the 0 Gundam's.

"That sort of ability is amazing...! I'll have to keep pace somehow!" Grace reassured herself and hit a single red button, suddenly all manner of pods and chest plates swung open, revealing a pair of beam gatling guns mounted in the chest, and multiple missile pods scattered around the body of the Gundam. "Take this!" Grace shouted and fired out a hail of beam fire and missiles that caught Razo's pursuers by surprise, shredding their GM's and Hizaks in one go. "Krieger! Advance inwards towards the designated battleships! I'll go as cover!" Grace said something Razo never expected; an order directed towards him. However, unlike someone other than Graham, Berlioz or Lilium who he'd normally berate for ordering him, Razo decided he would add Grace to this little group of 3 (now 4) and listen to her. "All right then, stay as close as possible to me, I'll be sure to require you soon! Lilium, we'll draw their fire, you blast out the support battleships!" Razo relayed back to his commanding officer.

On the Alexandria class, the mysterious Gundam type had begun to move. It didn't announce its presence or departure, even electing to simply walk out of the hangar instead of launching. A flowing red cape was attached to its back as it left. "Hey, hey! Who's piloting that weird looking MS? Captain! Who's brought that along?!" The engineer tried to relay his concerns, but even he was unaware of this "Knight Gundam" existing on his ship.

Waver could not even see the tracks each shot of beam took, he was lucky enough to avoid them just by keep moving. Every shot there was a bright flash on his screen that dazed the eyes of the rookie pilot, one shot narrowly passed as Waver panicked and returned fire. Waver's rifle fired a bright yellow beam but the several Hizacks spread out into different directions, he did not know which one to chase after. Dont rush it! Look closely at the movements of the enemy and predict their attacks! Archer called from over the radio, but his voice was beginning to blur out as the gap between the two Gundams widened. Waver saw another MS approaching from another direction, it was somewhat different looking.

From the first sight it appeared to be a CRADLE MS, hence its monoeye screen, but looking closely its IFF clearly displayed Blue Cosmos. It was painted orange with dark red, and it had a long horn like a commander Hizack. The gas mask "face" of the MS appeared similar to the Hizack and overall appeared rather similar to the Hizack in several ways. The Marasai was a step further for Blue Cosmos after capturing CRADLE technology from the previous war. While the Hizack were built based on the old Zaku's existing technology and refined, the only thing the Marasai carried from the Hizack was its appearance. It is a MS completely built by tuned up technology. Following technological advances of the 7 years between the previous war and now, the powerful but expensive Gundarnium alloy (formerly known as Lunar Titanium) is beginning to be widely used as technology allowed more efficient manufacture and maintenance of such material. Thanks to the durability of the alloy, many MS including CRADLE's new RF series and the Marasai and much more not only had their survivability prolonged, but it allowed the functioning of much more powerful generators to utilize stronger weapons and support more thrusters. While the toughness of the alloys still varied between MS, it would be safe to assume that even a Marasai is just as durable as the Gundam Mk-II.

Waver knew about the new Gundarnium alloy as it has been reported in science magazines he liked to read, and naturally he has seen and read about the Marasai. It was a high performance and rather low cost MS that would soon replace the Hizacks as Blue Cosmos' mainstay unit on the battlefield. "Theyre fast! Ngh!!" Waver gritted his jaws tight as he pushed his shield up, the back of the defensive plate covered half of his screen as he can see the faint image of some other units approaching. Then another beam flew past him and shot down the Hizack that was about to close in, Waver quickly put down the shield and saw Archer covering for him. Dont just stand still, you think the enemy will really wait for you to put your shield down? After guarding immediately move and watch your back! he scolded, Waver gulped hard as he was unable to even do anything.

"My god, I expected him to have some common sense at least...hmm? What are those?" Archer sighed as something caught his eyes. Three meteorites moving slowly towards the Nahel Argama from a far, while they looked like debris from the shoal zone, the speed they move at is rather unnatural, and before anything, should they even move at all as they were far away from the gravity pull of both Earth and the moon. "Dummies!!" Archer realized those meteorites were dummies in disguise, hiding MS inside and directly assaulting the Nahel Argama from the sides. "Waver, somehow manage to hold on here on your own!" Archer left that and flew towards the Nahel Argama.

Noa narrowed his eyes as there was not much they can do, the blockade of the Blue Cosmos fleet was too long for the Nahel Argama to push through their line of defense. A blast of beam from a far smashed against the deck of the white ship, blowing a deep crater on its right MS track, charring the dark gray metal deep black. The turbulence rocked the ship as the bridge crew grabbed onto their seats. It has become a habit of Noa to tell his bridge crew to wear normal suits whenever there is a battle, in case anything happens. "The barrage is thin!" Noa scolded as Mileina quickly adjusted her angles.

"Ricardo unit landed, light damage upon unit! Captain, its dangerous like this, we are badly outnumbered!" Rin reported as a somewhat battered Zaku returned on board the Nahel Argama for resupply. Noa nodded and looked around, assuming there should be a way out of this situation. A battle cannot be won just by pushing forward. "Hurry with the repairs and resupplying! Lichty, left 70, we need to avoid direct combat and retreat!" Noa commanded. The young helmsman Lichty pulled the steer towards him and turned, the Nahel Argama made a sharp turn as this alerted both the pilots outside and the enemies. However it was this moment, Rin felt something approaching.

This feeling...something is...coming?

She closed her eyes and heard a stream of sound from inside her head, it a jingle but the volume was still rather small. Every second the sound was getting larger as Rin opened her eyes, by instinct she shouted. "Captain! 9 o'clock enemies approaching!" the moment she shouted, the three dummy meteorites burst open as it revealed two Marasai and a third unit. It looked awfully similar to the Gundam Mk-II, though it would be inappropriate to say so. The correct way to say it was the Gundam Mk-II looked similar to this, it was painted entirely in gray and only small parts of light blue, looking almost the same as the Gundam used during the One Year War.

"A direct assault upon the enemy ship from the sides, please forgive me for the lack of chivalry, but this is the way of an all out war!" Diarmuid shouted as he pulled out a beam saber from the back of his unit, the handle extended twice into a long pole, its tip ignited in a blaze of light pinkish red, taking the form of a lance.

Razo weaved in an out of the beams being fired at him. For every one shot that managed to smash against the 0 Gundam's K-Field, another 10 were being deftly maneuvered around. He threw his shield out towards the attackers ahead of him, causing them to scatter and buying him a second to make his next move. "Let's just hope this sort of thing pays off....!" Razo muttered to himself. He reached out for the beam rifle carried by one of the fallen Hizacks, and grabbed it with his left hand. The corner of his screen was taken up with a small box reading: "(BOWA) BR-87A Beam Rifle Driver Installed". Although the Hizack had a low tolerance for beam weapons due to low energy output, a few of them were still equipped with such weaponry. Another crosshair appeared on the screen to highlight that 0 Gundam had gained a new weapon by installing the drivers needed for the system to work with the beam rifle. Razo took aim at two enemy GM II's approaching from the sides and fired, bringing them both down in seconds. "Ah-ha! Let's see how long you can entertain me then!!" Razo taunted and closed in on the Alexandria class that the Knight Gundam was observing him on. "Huh...? The hell is that...?!" Razo muttered to himself in confusion. He wanted to speculate that the operator could have been Sin Cara, but even for him a Mobile Suit wearing a cape seemed over the top.

"I see....He's going to destroy this battleship as well....." The Knight Gundam muttered to itself and simply stood there as Razo approached. His advance was cut short by the Alexandria's weapons all focusing their fire on him, but that wasn't a problem to him, if anything, it was beneficial to receive all of its fire, as it would be too preoccupied firing at their turncoat Gundam than its mother-ship blowing it apart. "Now Lilium! Sink this one now!" Razo shouted out over the comm channel and moved well out of the line of fire. "What are you doing? That Mobile Suit is tearing through our forces like they're made of paper. Chief, do you intend to sit there and let that happen?" The young womans voice asked the Knight Gundam, addressing its pilot by what could only be assumed to be his name. "Now now Carol, a real knight doesn't go taking his enemy by surprise. I'll wait until he comes after me before I make my move." Chief routinely answered back.

On the Ardent Prayer's bridge, Lilium received the command to destroy the Alexandria loud and clear. "Understood. Move on to the next one, guys." Lilium firmly commanded. "All Wraith's, fire at that battleship there!" Lilium pointed at the screen showing the target and sat back. Another hail of blue plasma erupted from the purple battleship, lighting the dark space up like a set of fireworks that could be seen as blue specs from miles away. The crew had no time to evade all of the shots, being incinerated in less than a second and going down with any other ships unfortunate enough to be caught in the line of fire. The Knight Gundam dodged a shot coming for it at the last minute, burning out part of its cape as it burst out of the wreckage. "Very well, do as you please then." Carol answered back to him, almost giving up on trying to boss him around after one retort. The Knight Gundam flew at the Heavyarms that was trailing behind Razo, raising a large reinforced sword high above his head and slashing down, catching his blade on the folded away army knife on the right arm.

"I will be your next opponent! Prepare yourself!" Knight Gundam boldly shouted at Grace and pushed her away from her support. "Ngh...! What's this?! Some sort of...Knight Gundam...?" Grace muttered out, also being utterly confused at what she was facing. She aimed the Heavyarms' beam gatling gun at her new opponent and let loose with a hail of beam, but the silver Gundam only responded by blocking it with a large shield similar in appearance to what a true knight would wield. Knight Gundam closed the gap in only a few seconds, barging into Grace without slowing down and knocking her aim off.

"Hey! Get the hell away from that Gundam!" Razo noticed that Grace was under attack and immediately spun round after noticing the Knight Gundam was no longer standing there. He fired round after round from the two beam rifles, dropping the HiZack's rifle as soon as it started running out of power. "Tsk...Such a distasteful weapon...." Knight Gundam commented and dashed to the side to avoid the enemy fire, freely allowing them to strike against whatever battleship or Mobile Suit was currently behind him. Razo clicked his tongue in annoyance with every shot that was missed. "Tsk....It's going to be one of those days, huh?" Razo complained, seeing this Knight Gundam's non-standard design as the real life equivalent of a "boss" in a video game that needed to be pummeled before he could leave.

"Kuh! An assault?! Mileina, gather all turrets towards those 3 MS, dont let them come any closer!" Noa shouted, the operator quickly switched her hands over the keys and adjusted the Nahel Argama's rapid firing turrets towards the 3 MS that was approaching. The thick barrage immediately halted the two Marasai's movements however it was unable to stop Diarmuid's Gundam, it zoomed through the thin gaps between each shell, and made it even closer to the bridge.

"Matching complete, we have data, thats the G-3 Gundam! It seems to have been built from the spare parts of the original RX-78-2 Gundam used during the previous war, however due to the acceleration of technology and the war ending sooner than expected, it was never fielded..." Rin explained as she quickly pulled out the matching data for their enemy. Although it was important to know what the enemy is, at a time like this even knowing the enemy would probably not save them. The G-3 Gundam was indeed nearly identical to the legendary Gundam of the One Year War, except for its rather dull color scheme. Though as time passes and technology advance even Gundam types begin to lose out in the arms race. In order to compensate for the lost technology, the G-3 Gundam was refitted with the standard 360 degree screen, had its beam rifle replaced with the more convenient E-cap model beam rifles, and magnetic coating to keep up with the speed and agility. All and all the G-3 was tuned up to outperform most of the more modern MS, and definitely a formidable foe for even the Gundam Mk-II, despite the G-3 being almost 7 years old. "Captain!!" Rin shouted as Noa came to his senses.

The captain dozed off for an instant looking at the G-3 Gundam, its movements so swift and agility so skilled made him think of an old friend of his. Even after all these years, he could not forget about this one person. When he came to his senses, the G-3 was already approaching the bridge of the Nahel Argama. "Dont give in! Lichty, hull 45! Ram into it before it can thrust!!" Noa shouted, this was the last thing he could do, but it was too late. The response of a ship could not possibly beat a MS to the punch, the G-3 raised its arm back as it was about to spear the bridge. Diarmuid's eyes widened as he quickly pulled his MS back as a blast of beam passed in between him and the Nahel Argama bridge through the narrow gap, it was a shot from a beam rifle, placed so precise that it managed to force Diarmuid to back down without inflicting a friendly fire against their ship. "Good aim, by all means I want to meet a pilot that can pull off a shot like this!" Diarmuid praised and faced his new foe.

Archer pulled his trigger several times more as Diarmuid floated away into space, being forced away from the Nahel Argama. "Seems like youre not going to just let me pass. You two take care of the ship, I will face the Mk-II!" he ordered his escort Marasais to focus its attack on the Nahel Argama as he confronted Archer's Gundam Mk-II that rushed back from the frontlines. Diarmuid swiftly zipped in between the gaps of the beam rifle and approached Archer with amazing speed, upon Diarmuid's preference, the G-3 Gundam sacrificed much of its defensive capabilities as a Gundam in order to gain peerless speed on the battlefield. With multiple additional boosters the original unit did not have, Diarmuid was lightning fast in his evasion while still maintaining the momentum of the battle. Unlike Archer, he was the kind of person with pure talent as a pilot, and most importantly he honed his skills to the extreme to not waste even the slightest bit of his talent.

Easily swiping Archer's rifle away, Diarmuid continued to attack as his silver unit eventually backed Archer's Gundam onto a meteorite. "...hes fast! But its still at a level I can keep up with!" Archer braced himself as he quickly slid away from the next swipe of the G-3's long spear. The beam spearhead scratched and ripped a scar in the meteorite as Archer readjusted his pose, drawing a beam saber from the shoulder of the Mk-II, quickly parrying the next few strikes, though it was still rather difficult for its pilot to keep up with Diarmuid's rapid attacks. Desperately trying to gain momentum back, Archer backed down and flew above the G-3, firing its head vulcans. Diarmuid expected an attack immediately afterwards, therefore he put up his shield to steadily guard against the distraction without breaking his own rhythm. However much to his surprise, the G-3's shield was ripped open as Diarmuid was surprised to see Archer's Mk-II wielding two sabers.

This is the second thing Archer was known for on the Nahel Argama, his unique melee style of utilizing both blades with great proficiency, "Archer of the twin blades". Continuing with a horizontal strike, Diarmuid somersaulted over his foe and took distance. "I see, indeed a very interesting enemy. Spearhead warrior of the Archbolt household, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne! We shall have a duel of honor!" Diarmuid named himself over the radio without any hesitation to conceal his real name, Archer's eyebrows twitched as he heard the name. He had no intention of replying though, it was just not his style to talk about chivalry and honor in battle. Though there still seems to be some time before anyone will come and help him out of this situation.

That name, its identical to the hero in Irish mythology...but I have to admit this person is strong, stronger than anyone I have met on the battlefield. Without question, hes an ace! Archer thought as his heart skipped a beat seeing the G-3 Gundam making its next move. It reached back and pulled out the other beam saber, the handle extended as well, but only extending once as a yellow beam spearhead ignited on the other end, creating a much shorter spear. "The long red spear and short yellow spear, even the style of him is identical to the legends...now how am I going to deal with you..." Archer stayed calm, trying to not be intimidated by his foe, though he was already at his limits keeping up with 1 weapon.

Razo looked around at his surroundings. The other Blue Cosmos forces surrounding him had completely swarmed his and Graces position like a pack of animals snaring their prey. The Knight Gundam stood with its shield and sword poised to deliver the blow that would almost certainly doom the pair to death. However, in a sudden turnabout, his raised sword was lowered for a moment. Also looking around at his allies that were keeping the fight from continuing, he raised his right arm and bellowed out to the others. "Back away! I will be this persons opponent! Focus on aiding the casualties, I will escort these two out of the combat area!"

"What the...? Are you insane or something?! That guys running around in one of our old machines, and you intend to let him go?" Carol shouted out the thoughts of everyone else around her, but the Knight Gundam knew what he was doing. As the units dispersed and Razo and Grace were escorted out of the area in what they could only described as "A really weird sense of misplaced chivalry", they looked around at the damage they and the Ardent Prayer had caused in just one run around Side 4, multiple battleships and MS squads were heavily damaged or completely wiped out, adding to the debris that had scattered outwards from Heliopolis and other battles before that.

Watch and remember...War without chivalry is nothing than a massacre... The Knight Gundam pondered to himself. With the three Gundams positioned a mile away from the defense line with the Ardent Prayer only just catching up as it circled round, Razo pulled out his beam saber and pointed it at his mystery opponent, unsure what to make of this generous act. "Alright then, so you've tried to kill my partner and then let us both go free, who the hell do you think you are?" Razo questioned. The silver Gundam's head tilted a bit as if displaying its own thought, and then drew its own sword from its shield.

"I have no real name, but if you must call me something, then make it Knight Gundam." Knight Gundam answered back. The metal sword was pointed straight at the 0 Gundam's cockpit, while the rest of his frame hunkered down into a position ready to launch forward at his opponent. "I trust you're familiar with the old ways of an honourable duel, right? I want you to show me your strength, here and now!" Knight Gundam charged forward with reckless abandon. Razo bit his lip trying not to order Grace to just blast this nutcase before he got near them, but he decided that perhaps it might be fun to fight this enemy one on one if he was so eager to face the Ardent Prayer's strongest pilot. "Grace, return to the ship, I'll show this guy just why it's a bad idea to be messing with a Krieger!!" Razo boldly shouted and charged at his opponent, beam saber and shield in hand...

After Archer left, Waver was left stuck in the middle of a few enemies. Although he was holding on relatively well alone, there was still a limit of how long he can survive. Waver could not even get a single shot in as he was forced on the defensive the entire time. "Ah...!! Damn, these guys...!!" the young pilot became impatient, he wanted to charge up and attack with his beam saber, but at the same time he was hesitant. He remembered what Archer taught him, never recklessly charge and trying to take the initiative. Of course there were exceptions, but Waver knew this was still not the time yet. Glancing at the parameters of his MS from the corner of his eyes, the Mk-II's anti-beam coating shield still can hold on for a while. "Calm down, calm down Waver...theyre not enemies that cannot be defeated." he calmed himself down.

At the same time, the Alexandria still did not show itself, Kenneth was waiting for the timing that the Nahel Argama was trying to retreat. However it could launch its MS team around the debris to cover their heat signatures, avoiding detection. Jerry was ready to launch, although one of the new Gundam Mk-II units were intended to be piloted by Kenneth, nonetheless Jerry was recognized by Kenneth for being its pilot. Mainly because Kenneth himself sees little reason for him to personally step on the battlefield, therefore he willingly gave it to someone that would use it. Seeing the first MS team already launched, Jerry lowered the screen of his helmet and gripped the controls firmly as he was about to launch. Then an incoming connection came in, he did not recognize this private channel, but since it was able to connect in such dense minovsky particle area, it must have been from someone on the ship. Now I think about it, I feel like this is your first combat in space, am I right?

Jerry heard a rather familiar high girlish voice, he then recalled where he heard her. Emily stepped her MS up onto the next catapult with several of the same MS behind her, lining up ready to launch. She piloted a MS that bear a faint resemblance to the old Gelgoog CRADLE used during the previous war. It was painted dark red and its overall rather squarely structured, with a pointy head but the tip was a stump. Like many of the duplicated technology, her unit had a monoeye system that CRADLE MS was commonly known for. Jerry checked his radar to see its IFF code, not sure what MS she was piloting. The code and name clearly displayed RMS-117 Galbaldy B on the small screen in front of his lap. Well, I assume I got that right. If you dont mind I will kindly teach you the rules of space combat, follow me and watch. You dont have to force yourself to join my team's formation, but make sure you dont get in the way if you do. she taunted, though not trying to offend her colleague in any way. Jerry frowned and turned his connection on as well. "I dont need you to tell me what to do, I will fight my way no matter where I am. Jerry Mesa, launching here!" he casually replied and stepped onto the catapult. Waiting for the signals to turn green, that instant the black Gundam Mk-II was launched into space. Emily was right, Jerry clumsily strolled through the debris as he was still not use to the 0G environment.

As Jerry was still cautious not to crash, Emily's Galbaldy team already went ahead in a neat formation, despite launching much later. Her team consisted of 3 units, the Galbaldy B was an upgrade from the Galbaldy A of the old CRADLE, apparently that was an upgrade of the Gelgoog that never saw action. The Galbaldy B was a rather simple MS with standard power and agility, armed with a standard beam rifle, a grenade launcher mounted in arms, two pairs of beam sabers and a shield. While sporting an overall higher performance than the Hizacks, it loses out to the Marasai in some aspects due to it not being built in Gundarnium, thus limiting its bulk and ability to effectively use its beam weaponry. Emily saw Jerry's Mk-II slowly joined into the formation of her team, she then lightly smirked. "Heh, you could be a bit more honest with yourself. But thats exactly the cute bit I like about you..." she muttered to herself as they slowly approached their enemies.

Charging out the debris, the radio connections were already lost thanks to the thick minvosky particle concentration. Emily raised her MS' hand, then pointed to the left like a baseball signal. That was enough for her two team mates to understand as they flowed off to confront Iskander's team. Jerry was left dumbfound though, but he only saw a stray white Mk-II wandering around being surrounded by several Hizacks. Though much to his surprise, he saw the Mk-II fire a shot and destroyed a Hizack in front of his very eyes. Jerry clicked his tongue for the lost of a comrade, judging by the rather clumsy movement of the white Mk-II, he assumed it was the person he was looking for. "Thats one! Huh? That guy is...?!" Waver panted as he quickly reloaded. Modern beam rifles are all fitted with E-cap cartridges to prolong their usability on the battlefield. One cartridge has around 10 or 11 shots, while an individual cartridge had less ammo than the old beam rifles, the ability to reload brought more convenience to the battlefield.

Without thinking, Jerry unsheathed his beam saber. The black Mk-II reached back and pulled out a handle, extending into a bright blade of yellow light, he charged at Waver's Mk-II. Slashing down and pressing onto the shield of Waver, Jerry was rather excited and vigorous in his battle. "Hahahaha! I found you, Waver!" he shouted. Hearing this familiar voice, Waver gritted his jaws in annoyance, meeting the worst enemy at the worst timing. "Ngh! This voice, Jerry?!" he cursed, seeing the anti-beam coating on his shield being sawed off rapidly from the beam saber's attack.

After Grace had left, Razo turned off his comm channel so that he could focus on the duel without someone else shouting down his ear. He slashed across for his first move, hoping that the Knight Gundam's next move would be to parry it by striking down with his own sword. "Too predictable...!" The silver Gundam shouted, slamming hard into the 0 Gundam with his shield, preventing the beam saber from hitting him by letting the 0 Gundam's arm wrap around the back of him. Seizing the opportunity, he pushed his enemy away with a swift kick and attached the sword back behind the shield. Knight Gundam reached round for a huge lance on his back, spinning it around in his hand to throw it at the target.

"Ngh! This guy doesn't mess around...!" Razo cursed and threw out his shield in order to block in incoming lance. The silver lance pierced right through the center of the shield and breaking off its handle, in exchange for being slowed down dramatically. Razo tilted left and grabbed his opponents weapon with his free hand, but before he could focus on the Knight Gundam again his enemy was already slashing down with his sword. "Farewell, my nameless opponent!" The Knight Gundam spoke as if his victory was already assured. Razo however just grinned, moving his twin weapons in front of him to block the attack, he quickly knocked the Knight Gundam's sword away with his own lance and thrust forward to impale it there and then, but there was only a deflection as the weapon was bounced off the Knight's heavy armour with little more than a scratch.

Razo was beside himself, not only was this new opponent seemingly immune to melee weaponry, but the sheer bulk also meant this the 0 Gundam's Kojima Particles were unable to get at the rest of the MS and disable it. "Tsk....Gundam's wearing armour....Lucky them..." Razo muttered his frustrations about Blue Cosmos managing to stop the 0 Gundam's party piece out of sheer dumb luck. At the same time, Grace was refitting her Gundam Heavyarms into its maintenance rack. While she had not yet left her Gundam as she was on the radio still. "Captain, ignore whatever Razo wants, target and fire on that silver Gundam with everything we have!" Grace recklessly ordered. Firing all of the ships cannons at the Knight Gundam while it was in close quarter combat with Razo would make it difficult for the 0 Gundam to pull out in time, even more so since the disabled comm line made it impossible to let its pilot know.

"We can't! It's too...Ah whatever, I'm sure he'll know what to do..." Lilium hesitated to fire right there, as she understood the risk of firing so quickly. However at the same time she trusted that Razo would have the reactions to dodge a hail of blue beam if he was in the way. She looked down at Veloci who was ready to fire all of the Wraith cannons on the left side again, and was met with a simple nod, indicating that he was good to fire. "Well, let's just hope he notices..." Veloci sighed and took aim at the Knight Gundam that was now on the defense as Razo was rapidly slashing across with the beam saber and lance in hand. "I can do this! I'll take him down!!" Razo shouted to himself in order to motivate him to keep pushing. Every slash, every strike was blocked by either the Knight Gundams sword or shield, but as long as he was unable to strike back he would be at least one bit safer.

The Nahel Argama was at its limit, no matter where they tried to go, the enemy's blockade was just too tough for 1 ship to do much. Team Iskander was also badly surrounded, though their veteran experience saved them from taking too much damage from the swarming enemies. Iskander swayed to the side as he quickly avoided a slash from behind. "Chi...this guy is good!" Emily cursed as her Galbadly team arrived to put even more pressure on the already outnumbered team Iskander, making it 3 on 10 now. Parrying her next attack, Iskander unleashed his heat rod at Emily for a surprise attack, but the skilled pilot quickly pulled distance to avoid the long whip filled with electricity. "An ace huh? This isnt good, Ricardo, Andy! We're pulling back, we've drifted too far away from the Nahel Argama, at this point it would only be a matter of time before they get to the ship!!" he ordered.

The two Zakus were rather close by Iskander, close enough for the radio call to be heard in blurred fragments, but for the veterans that stayed with their captain for years, this was good enough for them to understand the orders. Slowly pulling back, Blue Cosmos persisted in the attack as they chased after the retreating CRADLE units. "Youre not getting away!" Emily shouted and charged at Iskander's direction, assuming he was the captain. She fired two shots, one of them flew into the void, but the other was forcefully blocked by Iskander using his shield. Though this drastically slowed him down due to having to turn around as the distance between the two shortened "Youre mine!" the female pilot drew her blade again and this time aimed for the fatal strike. Iskander gritted his jaws and braced himself, the blade dented into the left shoulder of his Gouf and slashed down, completely cutting its arm off.

"I'll give you that arm! But!" the skilled captain was confident this definitely caught her off guard, although Emily was skilled and talented, she was still young. Lashing out with the heat rod once again, this time it managed to slap Emily's Galbaldy B on the chest, delivering a powerful electric shock to know the unit away. Taking that split moment, Iskander turned and retreated. "Ah..!! That...bastard..!!" Emily felt a shock through her body as a droplet of sweat rolled down her cheeks. The quick shock disabled parts of her MS' system, but by the time she rebooted the OS Iskander was already only a little spark in the black void. Slamming her fist on her lap, she was frustrated for losing focus for even an instant thinking that she won. "Fine, the next time youre definitely dead meat!" her face twisted as she revealed a devilish face.

At the same time, the Nahel Argama was in a rather intense battle with a few Hizacks and Marasais surrounding it, but also Diarmuid's G-3 putting huge pressure on Archer. "There are no other ways! Rin, launch the signals and tell everyone to cover for the Argama. Lichty, we're making a U turn, I dont want to admit it but it seems like the enemy has gotten us to dance in their palms!" Noa commanded, the Nahel Argama launched three flash bangs high up into the void as they lit brightly in the following order of white, white, red. The white ship made a sharp turn as it swung itself towards the opposite direction rather quickly.

"Fire..." Kenneth snapped his fingers as the Alexandria finally revealed itself from behind the large asteroid, it was waiting for the very moment the Nahel Argama turned around. The beam cannons on the dark purple ship light in bright yellow as it blasted several rails of mega particle cannons, followed by a wave of missiles. One blast of beam smashed against the Nahel Argamas deck as the missiles battered the helpless ship, several beams from behind scratched through its sides narrowly missing. "Straight up, Alexandria! Engine output 20% down, captain at this rate our ship will...!" Rin shouted, Noa narrowed his eyes running out of ideas.

An ambush at a time like this? Not good, at this rate we will really sink here...but its not yet time to show this trump card so quickly, what should I do?

Seeing the bright signal lighting from behind, Waver recognized it. It was the first thing Archer told him to remember when it came to reading signals from the ship, he knew immediately it was the orders to retreat. But there was one enemy that was persisting to destroy him right here. "Ah!! Go away would you!!" Waver shouted in annoyance as he fired his rifle at Jerry's Mk-II, but the aim was off as Jerry swiped Waver's rifle away, slashing in half. Waver dropped his broken weapon before it exploded, deprived of projectiles Waver quickly drew his beam saber as well. Parrying the first strike, Waver could not keep up with the second as he was forced to block with his shield. The anti-beam coating was completely wiped off from the surface of his last defensive measure, as the third successive strike snapped his shield in half. "Is that all you got Waver?! If we stand on an equal line youre nothing but a brat!" Jerry taunted.

"Why you!" Waver was enraged, this was the last person he wanted to be insulted by. However, there was a huge sense of death clutching his shoulders from behind. Waver have not felt so close to the end in his life, this feeling of the finale was even more sharp and pressing than at the time when the counselor in Granada pointed a gun at him. He was afraid, to end without being able to do anything. The next strike came but the rookie was only able to barely block it before being knocked off balance. "Its no good, I cant beat him...Is this as far as I go..." he muttered to himself, wanting to give up as he closed his eyes.

Calm down and focus on your opponent's move, dont just look think about your own!

Archer's words from this morning appeared in his head, Waver opened his eyes again and closely inspected his opponent. As if the entire world was going in slow motion, Waver only had an instant to observe, decide, execute, and counter all at once. Its the end if I give up. After seeing what Blue Cosmos really is, there really isnt much of a choice but to fight. I cant allow myself to die here just yet, because... he thought as he then opened his mouth and shouted at the top of his lungs. "I dont want to give up before I even start!"

"Hahaha! Die, Waver!!" Jerry laughed and charged with a thrust motion, Waver narrowed his eyes and quickly ducked down, letting the yellow beam saber slash past its shoulder, scratching past the white Mk-II's head, but passing safely. Half of the screens were wiped out as Waver's cockpit was half gray, but this was enough for him to execute his counter attack. "I wont lose! Just to you I dont want to lose!" Waver roared back and slashed up, sending the black Mk-II's arm flying into the rubble.

"Wha...?!" Jerry's eyes widened in disbelief as Waver's next move was not done. He suddenly remembered something, it was from a movie he watched last year. The movie's name was plainly called "The Red Comet", a biography of a legendary pilot from the One Year War. There was one thing that left a strong image in his mind, though Waver himself was strongly convinced that it was possible in real life. Kicking off Jerry's Mk-II like a springboard, Waver gained acceleration and at the same time throwing Jerry far away from him. Waver quickly turned his boost on, and blasted towards the Nahel Argama with incredible speed.

Just as Razo was pushing the Knight Gundam back into the Blue Cosmos defense line, a huge barrage of blue beam fired soared past the two Gundams. The Knight Gundam bailed back a few metres, evidently wary of the incoming fire that was trying to blast him out of existence. "Cursed luck...!" He shouted in annoyance, but pushed on against Razo regardless. Both of them swung forward with the Knight's sword and lance respectively, causing the two weapons to be caught in a stalemate as both tried to gain the edge over the other to land the killing blow. As Razo was looking at what he could do next, another comm line was opened so that the Ardent Prayer could contact him. "Razo! On your six!" Veloci shouted at Razo to make him move. Razo looked behind him as another rail of beam was about to hit him in the back and dodged to the right, knocked the Knight Gundam away as he did so.

"Huh? Damn!!" Knight Gundam cursed as he knew he would only have time to raiser his shield. The huge barrage of beam smashed against the shield and heavy armour, melting past the pristine shield in just afew seconds. Using what little time he had to move, the Knight Gundam released his grip of the shield and moved away, floating around in space with its tattered cape while Razo hastily retreated from the combat zone. "I will find you again...Gundam...." Knight Gundam said to himself, knowing that the battle was now over, he picked up the small fragment of his shield and lance that weren't blown up and carried them back to the defense line.

"Shit...! The Nahel Argama's pulling out...!" Lilium grumbled and opened up communications to the Nahel Argama as it was circling back round towards Side 3. "Captain Noa, this is Lilium, we're on our way back towards Side 3. We apologise for the delay. What's our current route from here?" Lilium politely asked, taking care not to mention that her leading Mobile Suit had gone off on its own reckless hunt or the presence of yet another Gundam type being fielded. Zooming in on the battle before she would ever get there in time to save the Nahel Argama, she noticed that Kenneth's Alexandria Class had got the Nahel Argama cornered and was prepared to fire everything she could to erase it there and then, but before she could bark out the order, a large blast of pink beam flew past the Ardent Prayer and out into the deep void.

"Hey guys, take care....!" Razo sarcastically said, almost as if he was trying to taunt somebody. In training, Razo was the first to learn that when engaging in long range combat against a moving target, the shot must be fired ahead of the targets path, or else by the time the shot got near the target would miss. Razo had already spotted the Alexandria on the 0 Gundams sensors as some purple spec firing at the white spec that was the Nahel Argama, and fired just a few inches in front of where the Alexandria was from his view. As the beam shot ripped through space, the little inch off soon added up to being a big difference, as when the Alexandria crossed the path of the beam it would almost certainly be hit through one, maybe two of its engines....
