I thought maybe we should just start throwing around some ideas for what the charter will look like as a way to promote some more activity on the board. I don't really think we need to have anything set in stone but if we start discussing it now we will be a little more prepared when the time comes to actually write it. So what do you guys expect from this region? |

Was about to post a starting topic then seen that you were posting. Perhapse we should start with a basic topic, Membership. How does one become a member of Valtamrei? |

It probably is best to take it piece by piece. Should we have some type of agreement for all citizens of the region? Nothing too intrusive but they have to commit to upholding certain values, helping the other nations in the region and upholding the charter. I wouldn't want it to be anything that would scare members off but I think it could work to bind members to each other. Let me know if I'm off base, you guys have more experience at this than me. |

Something along the lines of what we already have but have something like an oath included. I [NATION NAME] pledge to vote, discourse, and uphold the laws and values of Valtamrei. I also pledge to hold any office in Valtamrei with the interests of Valtamrei in mind and not any other region or organisation. |

Maybe something else in that pledge as well. Like protecting nations in armed conflict, or at the very least providing some sort of assistance. Many NSers like a good military roleplay, this could entice them if they think we will have some possible military fun. |

I agree, I think we should try to make the region as appealing as possible for those coming the first time. I think the pledge can help draw people in. Making that first jump into the forum is a tough step especially for new players, I think if we can provide some exciting aspects (military) and show that we're here for each other people will be more willing to join. |

I also pledge to defend and aid the other member states of Valtamrei in the event of armed comflict. How's this? |

I don't really see any problems with it. |

Great! That seems to be the first step over and done with. Next we should discuss the rights of Member states.(Same as the rights of a citizen, only citizen is called a member state to keep in touch with the federation idea) |

With a couple of the big regions using autorecruitment scripts(which some are selling for $30) meaning they dont have to actually recruit. They just use the script with one nation and that will send a recruitment telegrams to a nation within seconds of it being re/founded 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are going to ban the use of it soon, but it should be done quicker as its hurting the development of regions such as ours. Still, as long as we're patient we will grow. |

Hopefully Anyway, rights of member states, well i just had a though that would probably make it a bit easier to write. I had thought that we'd have a member group entitled 'Member State' instead of citizen, but 'Representative' sounds better and would be more accurate. |

Here's a few thoughts on the rights of the representatives. Note: Federal Assembly is the name i think should be given to our legislature, Federal Court our Judicial branch.
Questions? |

All my suggestions are italicized, I strongly feel that the Speaker of the Assembly should oversee debate and maintain decorum. Other than that, the clause on crime is mainly to discourage corruption and allows for politicians who have been found guilty to be barred from running again (during a period). EDIT: I read this before reading 'Legislature'. References changed to Speaker of the Assembly. Edited by Muscovite, May 17 2012, 05:09 AM.
