So I know some will disagree with this, but, can we have some kind of moderation on this? To point a couple out, we've got like 13 year olds running around with claymores, a 16 year old high priestess, this isn't an animé? I've been led to believe this rp was attempting to be somewhat realistic, gritty, dark, whatever, and having bloody Teen Wolf and Edward Cullen running around isn't going to achieve that. |

Yeah it's not that unrealistic for people 16-17 to be soldiers or whatever, considering the average life expectancy in these times would be what, 30-40 for the average person? And as said, the harsh conditions would naturally ensure people took on roles of responsibility at earlier ages. |

Just want to point out a variable in life expectancy is infant deaths. The true life expectancy, if you removed those babies, wouldn't actually be as low as you think. Besides... people in the bible lived to be over 400 years old... B) |

Wikipedia says 45, Justin, regardless we've got vampires and lycans running around, are we really going to argue the realism of age? |

I'm not arguing the realism of age, but that infant deaths are a variable in life expectancy. Edited by Skippy, May 20 2014, 03:55 PM.

Two cents, but most girls were married with their first child by fourteen in the 1300s. It is perfectly acceptable, therefore, to have a noble profession. "I'm old enough to breed I'm old enough to bleed I'm old enough to crack a brick in your teeth while you sleep" As they say. |

I've got no qualms with people role-playing a thirteen year old, or even younger if they want. I don't even mind them swinging big, two-handed swords around, either. Initially, before I entered this topic, I was going to say 'would a child of that age even be capable of lifting a sword of that size and weight?' After a quick Google search ("how much does a longsword weigh?") I found a Wikipedia topic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longsword) and according to it, swords aren't that heavy at all, really - 1.1 to 1.8 kilograms. That was the only thing that bugged me about people role-playing young characters - the weight of the weapons they were wielding. Now I know that swords don't weigh all that much at all, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. :D |
