Lord of Night Sirius Wake

Hello, everyone. I'd like to begin this topic by telling you that a few of us in the staff have been designing various concepts for the lore and history of the RP. As many of you know, we've been caught within a certain... purgatory. No one seems to know what to do or what we're doing and so the staff has set out to flesh out the setting, the story, the lore and the history of the RP-- define it, in other words. What follows is our concept for the story. What we'd like you to do is read it and voice your opinions. We'd like you to vote on whether or not you think the storyline should be used in the RP. That being said, please start your posts with either: Yes. or No. And then voice your opinion as to why you feel that way. Long ago, there were three brothers. The eldest, Viktor, was ambitious and craved power beyond all else. The middle-brother, James, was possessed by a lust for war and conquest. The youngest of the brothers, Elias, sought only to be as pure as he possibly could be. One day, a great and powerful entity had appeared to the three brothers with a test of their character. He offered the three anything their hearts desired. The eldest brother, possessed by his ambitious nature, demanded a crown of the finest metals and a kingdom to rule over for all eternity. The entity agreed and granted Viktor his prize. The middle-brother, James, possessed by his desire to conquer his enemies, demanded a powerful sword that would slay any enemy or army that stood against him. The entity agreed and granted James his prize. It was then that the entity approached Elias, the youngest of the brothers, and asked him what he desired. Elias reflected inward upon his thoughts for several minutes before he responded. He asked for a shroud that would make him impervious to the influence and presence of all evil. The entity smiled and granted him his prize. It was only then that the entity had revealed the true nature of his test and announced that the elder brothers had failed. In failing the entity's test, the brothers were cursed. The eldest, Viktor, for having been blinded by his ambition and lust for power was transformed into a hideous fiend of the shadows, a horror of the night. The middle-brother, James, for having been blinded by his love of conquest and war, was transformed into the very creature he sought to become: a ravenous wolf. Elias watched in horror as his brothers were transformed before his very eyes. Without hesitation, Viktor and James attempted to turn on their younger brother in an attempt to consume him. Elias, without hesitation, drew the shroud over his body and cast the evil of his brothers away. The entity explained to the youngest of the brothers that from this day forward, his elder brother's weakness would curse the world and that they would spread their curses in their wake. The youngest brother, seeking to redeem the weakness of his elder brothers, swore from that day forward that he would stand as a defender of all mankind. He returned home and it was there that he founded the Covenant, an order of hunters, templars and priests that would shield mankind from the ancient horrors of the night and destroy them at their source. While Viktor, James and Elias faded into legend, their progeny continued to thrive and have continued to this very day... |

It smells of Harry Potter tbh. I'm sure Dumbledore is rolling around in his grave right about now. In all seriousness its a good background, I just hope a good storyline can be molded from it. |

Most of our inspiration actually came from the story of Markus/William from Underworld. I mean, I get the "three brothers, three items, must be Harry Potter thing!" but it's not the only story that's ever used three brothers. |

Resurrection stone.
Elder wand.
Invisibility cloak. Obviously you have an unconfessed love for Harry Potter and as such you subconsciously, or unconsciously, incorporated elements of it's story into your own. In order to prevent your vice from being known you disguised it cleverly behind a veil of vampires and lycans. I know your secret, Benward Cullen. But yeah... Is there a plan to create a more developed storyline thats based on the background? genuine question. Edited by Skippy, May 23 2014, 12:09 AM.

Yes, the origin story is meant to serve as the basis for the lore. See below.
I have no love of Harry Potter, and those were terrible examples. I mean, the only issue I saw with it was the Shroud being similar to the Invisibility Cloak because "shroud = cloak, must be harry potter" and so on. The items in question are meant to reflect the natures of the three species. A crown, a symbol of authority and political ambition, to represent the Vampires. A sword, a symbol of strength and war, to represent the Lycans. A shroud that grants the wearer immunity to evil, a symbol of purity, to represent Man and the Covenant. Mind you, this is only the rough draft. It may be changed/edited as time goes on. |

Wow, my black ass is appalled right now. I'm aware you mentioned "three defined lores" but that seems to imply something different than a large storyline. I apologize if I could not read between the lines of your great, vague and ominous words. Obviously you took artistic liberties. I don't deny your clever cunning and I know many here are blinded by your vampiric charm. I, however, see past such a disguise. Clearly the resurrection stone is similar to the crown. Death is the single mystery that will forever plague the human race and as such, any man who can "conquer" it and essentially resurrect himself can be seen as the leader of men. Therefore the resurrection stone and the crown can imply the same ideas. The Elder Wand is supposed to be the most powerful weapon which is akin to the sword. No explanation needed. As for the invisibility cloak, they are very similar. The shroud makes the wearer impervious to the presence of evil. In Harry Potter the invisibility cloak allows him to be invisible to Death himself, and thus, if you view death as evil, makes them basically the same. Checkmate. crown doesn't bring people back from death sword isn't a gay wand shroud doesn't make you "invisible to death" and death isn't evil you might want to check the dejarik board again |
