Greetings people of Vector. I am here to discuss the taxes of this town. I believe that an town hall/constable's office is absolutely necessary. We must have a way for the government to do business. I will not institute a city council untill one is built to hold the meetings in.

There are many things which this town shall have a need of, even after this is built. We must be able to afford councilmen's stipends. We must be able to afford a constable's salary. Furthermore, I shall remain Mayor untill the town is able to support one of its own volition. According to Sir Tiberias, if he in the one paying my salary, he is the only one who gets to vote. It isn't my rule, but it isn't my choice either.

Therefore, we must have taxes. The question is: at what rate? This is open for debate and I encourage suggestions.

Thank you.

Eef I might, I would like to say a few words. Ze best situation for all of uz, iz to make shure that ze tax rate is based on ze amount of income earned. Those of uz who earn more shall pay more. Those who earn lezz, shall pay lezz. Savvy?

Yes, indeed, Jean eez right. I zink zat ze best tax solution would be to levee it by ze person's income, i.e tax brackets of:

Yearly Income Percentage of Tax Taken
Less than £1,000 2%
£1,000-10,000 5%
£10,001 - £20,000 10 %
£20,001 - £50,000 20%
£50,000+ 25%

Ve could levve zis tax at ze end of each year, zereby allowing for fluctuations within an eendividual's cash flow.

However, first ve must beeld such a Constable's offees for purposes of county records and taxes.

The constables office shall be enclosed in the Towne Hall for the time being. The Hall shall be a massive one. If I may, I have a design:

As you can see, this facility would be quite all encompassing for our local governmental buildings.

I have instuted a tax, as you probably have all already heard by now. It is 2% on income and sales. Hopefully, it shall not be too long coming. I do appreciate the stepped tax idea, however, I do not approve of socialism and shall not adopt it just yet.

In that case, I am quite sure that only horse whipping would do for you, Jean.

Jean did not flinch.

"So, do I get to sleep in the stables concluding my whipping? Maybe when winter sets in..."

Jean looked extremely pleased. "Excellent. At last, Thundarh and I shall 'ave an excuse to cuddle at night." He laughed at his own joke.

Sighing, David traipsed away. That other Frenchman was a madman.
