Unique FeaturesAttire
Otto is what the Noblewomen refer to as a "Silver Fox". If not for the grey in his hair he could be mistaken for a man half his age. He is a dangerous sort of handsome, scarred in all the right places and managing to appear weathered and wild while maintaining an air of civilization. He keeps his mustache neat and his hair long. Likewise he keeps his body in good shape. Well, half of it anyway.

--As evidenced by his fetching eye-patch and fancy arm and leg, a little less than half of Otto's body was mangled in one of his previous adventures. Beneath his clothes scars can be seen running up his left side, and creeping up past his collar. The magical prostheses he wears are detachable, though he rarely removes them in front of company.
Since his Adventuring days are "behind" him Otto prefers to dress in the fashion of the nobility with a utilitarian bent. While on others the clothes might look foppish the guildmaster manages to pull it off. He is in fact well known for his fashionable canes and cravats.

~ PERSONALITY ~
LikesDislikesHobbiesAspirationsFears
Adventures, stories, challenges, a fine ship or a finer lady!
He has a real passion for discovery.
Tedium, stagnancy, sycophants, anything that wastes his time, and people who put on airs.Sailing, Fighting, Arguing, Practical Jokes, Fighting, and Dancing. Reunite Sanctum with the rest of the world.Losing his purpose,
running out of time,
growing complacent.
Otto Lind is a bit of a legend. His exploits are known far and wide, and boy won't he let you forget it. At times he can be boisterous and sanguine, and others he can be gloomy and grim. He's a bullish person in general, used to getting his way and leading from the front. His sometimes outrageous attitude is tempered by a strong and solemn sense of purpose.

Despite his great self confidence and often overwhelming optimism he has a well hidden practical side, possessing a meticulous eye and a keen analytical mind. When he is in command he demonstrates a self-possessed composure that bolsters and focuses those around him.

In essence, Otto is like a storm. Violent and frenetic on the outside, yet calm and peaceful within.

SKILLS
Fencing: You don't adventure on the high seas for so many years without swashing a few buckles. Otto is a steady hand with a sword and surprisingly graceful in his swordsmanship. Nonetheless, he prefers to win through dazzling displays and trickery rather than relying on his skills or strength of arm. He often applies his sword fighting talents with his cane.
Seamanship: It would be hard to think of anyone better at handling a ship than Otto Lind. In fact, with anything at all having to do with sailing, be it predicting weather, rope-work, navel tactics, charting, or navigation he is a master of the craft. These skills have developed from years of experience in sailing and adventuring.
Spear fighting:In a city of nobles, sword dueling is the norm. No one has ever accused Otto Lind of being normal. He's an old hand with the spear. Whatever skill he displays with a sword is overshadowed by his ability with a spear. Incorporating spear, lance, and staff fighting techniques in to a blur of thrusts and sweeps he has developed it into an art form. He's not bad with a billiard stick either.

POWERS

Transhuman
Both Otto's left arm and left leg have been completely replaced with magically animated clockwork limbs. Similarly, his heart is now only semi-flesh, having to recieve modifications to continue functioning. While these new pieces do not give Otto any super human abilities, they do give him a few unnatural advantages. The magic allows Otto control of the limbs as if they were natural, as well as providing the basis of the locomotion. Otherwise their advantages are purely mechanical in nature. The limbs only operate when the are attached to Otto.
The Left Arm: Thank the gods he's a righty, eh? Made of metal and some wooden pieces Otto's new arm has the full range of motion of a natural limb, as well as the same level of strength his old arm possessed. However, the wrist has a pivot, allowing the hand to twist a full 360 degrees. Furthermore, the forearm houses a small cannon that can be fired by flipping down his hand and shooting from the wrist. He often loads it like a blunderbuss, having one devastating shot as a literal ace up his sleeve.
The Left Leg:Aside from being detachable the only notable feature of his leg is that it contains a storage compartment in the thigh. What he keeps in it at any given moment is often a mystery and a favorite guessing game among guild members.
Autosanguinator:The old ticker. The only sign of this modification is a rather large scar on Otto's sternum left over from the surgery. It pumps blood reliably and maintains a steady heartbeat at all times, automatically compensating from a drop or rise in blood pressure. Aside from that it's a regular old heart.

POSSESSIONS
Personal Effects: Otto possesses of veritable treasure trove of nick knacks, souvenirs, adventuring gear, and junk left over from his years of exploration. However, in general he owns a few canes that he likes to carry around, usually concealing a blade or pistol (though in at least one occasion he produced a flask from the handle), a number of decorative eye-patches, and whistle he wears on a fine gold chain around his neck.
Lodestar:Posted ImageThe spear that started it all. Lodestar is a mystical weapon that hangs on the back wall of Otto's study on the Overedge. The spear possesses a number of well known abilities that have served Otto well in the past. It grants it's wielder an innate sense of direction, it strikes unerringly when thrown and will return to the hand of the wielder. Furthermore, Otto can alter it's length at will, switching from a short spear, to a pike, a lance, and even something like a vaulting pole. On top of all that it is incredibly resilient, so far proving able to survive the breath of a particularly grumpy drake, taking a greatsword to the haft, and being wedged between two slowly closing walls without snapping.
George:A red skinned Wyvern somewhat larger than draft horse, George is Otto's loyal companion of over three decades. While she spends most of her time lazily roosting atop the Overedge, she will occasionally be seen flying him around the city, or out hunting in the wilderness. She can be identified a gold bracelet on her left leg. As is typical of her breed Georgedose not have forelegs, using her wings for balance, and she possess a wicked stinger on her tail that can deliver a fast acting paralytic poison. Aside from that she posses the average capabilities of an adult drake, though Otto can attest she is fairly clever, if not nearly as intelligent as a full dragon.
Holdings:Including the Overedge and Otto's Gold, the Guildmaster is considerably wealthy. He has investments throughout Sanctum, particularly in the merchant's quarter and the docks. These investments were made from the wealth he accumulated as an adventurer.

RELATIONSHIPS
Aalto Morcant: Designer of the Overedge, Otto's limbs, and his greatest friend in the world.
Gavin Mercer: If Aalto is his greatest friend Gavin is the oldest.
Chancellor Sera: Friendly business acquaintances as the Council is footing a large part of the bill for the Exploratory fleet Otto has been building.

HISTORY
As with all great heroes Otto came from humble beginnings. Born to a moderately successful merchant father and a mother with little to no aspirations of her own Otto seemed destined for mediocrity. With a hardy, "To hell with that!" the young man abandoned the life his parents had set out for him and joined up with the next ship heading out of Sanctum.

From there the details of his life are hazy, but the stories run wild. After an unknown number of years serving aboard merchant vessels Otto formed his own crew, and captained a ship designed by the Magus-Shipwright Aalto Morcant. In his travels he came across the spear Lodestar and the Wyvern George. There are varying accounts of how he gained the spear and tamed the drake, a number of which come from Otto himself.

He has lived a colorful life, earning a great deal of renown in his home city. Finally retiring at the urging of his friends at the ripe old age of 50, Otto set about looking for new challenges. The business world however, while lucrative, was dreadfully mundane. He soon grew bored of his moderately succesful tavern, and set about forming the foundation of the Exploration League, of which he is currently guild master.

In recent years Otto has undertaken, with the support of the City Council, the construction of a large exploratory fleet, aiming to extend Sanctum's trade routes and reconnect the city with the rest of the world. Offering up the Overedge as the flagship and base of operations for the Exploration League Otto now prepares a whole new generation of explorers for a life of adventure.
