Nix is a hedonist, constantly in search of new experiences. She throws herself into fights and celebrations with equal enthusiasm. The city is a vastly different place than that from whence she came; colors seem brighter, sounds seem richer, and the food is unlike anything she's ever tasted. She has a particular weakness for desserts, fine wine, and strange music, though she certainly isn't averse to the company of most folks in the city either. To those who barely know her, she's a riot- at least until the drinking turns to brawling. During her years in Sanctum, she's subdued that particular tendency somewhat, if only because the discomfort of confinement far outweighs the fun she has starting fights. Notably, expeditions she undertakes with the League have a tendency to coincide with particularly close brushes with the law.


PERSONAL HISTORY


(REDACTED) by order of (REDACTED) pending further investigation. Subject has been recorded in city for 5 years, shows no sign of aging. Reportedly "born in a cross-fire hurricane." Nonsense. SKILLS


Jig-Saw Puzzle- Nix loves maps. Her fellow explorers taught her how to draw them, and it's one of the few nonviolent activities that holds her focus. She views them like riddles, and works on each one until it's completed to her exacting standards.

Midnight Rambler- Nix can move about quite stealthily and quietly if she wants to. She's not skilled at picking locks, breaking and entering, or any of that nonsense, but she can skulk about and remain hidden with the best of them.

Street Fighting Man- To call Nix a disciplined individual would be an insult to fighters everywhere. Unfortunately for those who get on her bad side, she makes up for it by being a terrifying unarmed combatant. Fighting dirty is her modus operandi, and if she feels her life is threatened, she's willing to pull out every trick in the book. She carries a hand axe on her person when on a field assignment, and can use it reasonably well, but infinitely prefers to tackle people without it. While this isn't the wisest course of action, it makes fighting a lot more fun than it normally would be. On the other hand, if you think she wins more fights than she loses, you're kidding yourself.



POWERS


Oh No, Not You Again!- Nix can take the form of any medium-sized humanoid at will. Her physical strength alters to match the build of the person that she's impersonating, remaining within human limits. Additionally, she is still fundamentally human- while she might be able to mimic scales, claws, or any other physical features superficially, she bleeds just like a human would. Similarly, she can mimic things like hook hands, they aren't actually authentic- unnervingly, they are very much a part of her. Furthermore, unless she's in contact with her victim, she can only assume the appearance of what she can see.

Nix has become quite skillful at shifting in this manner, and can do so almost instantaneously. She's fond of using it to unsettle opponents before striking at them.


Sympathy for the Devil- Nix? She's human! Magical sensors even prove it! She might be a shapeshifter, but that was just courtesy of an unfortunate encounter with a demonic artifact. Powerful wizards who say otherwise are clearly overthinking things and should be ignored.

Time Waits for No One- Nix has an innate sense of direction. She knows which way is north innately, and can judge the distance between two points in her range of vision with frightening accuracy. If she's been to two points before, she can navigate between them without getting lost, with one exception- she cannot recall her initial journey from the Abyss to Sanctum. This unnerves her to no end, and part of her motivation for joining the Explorer's League is to rediscover her origins.

Interestingly, while her spatial reasoning and reckoning is extremely accurate, she is physically incapable of measuring the concept of time. When referring to events in her past, she uses measurements of distance, and unless she has access to a clock of some kind, is completely unaware of time's passage, barring day/night cycles. If questioned about this, she mentions that it's "not her place" to keep track of time.


POSSESSIONS


The Axe- It's a hatchet, unremarkable except for the fact that she takes extremely good care of it. She carries it in a sheath on her belt when she's not causing trouble. After all, if she carried it around on a regular basis, people might think that she liked killing people. Evem worse, they might think that she wasn't trying to atone for misdeeds done miles ago, and that would be terrible.

The Outfit - A bespelled jacket and pair of slacks. They can take on the appearance of any clothing, but she prefers their practical default appearance more often than not, even when wearing someone else's face. Interestingly enough, no matter what form she's taking, they seems to fit her perfectly. The magic that makes them work is arcane in nature.

Mapmaking Gear- She likes to keep charcoal and something to scribble on on her person at all times. If she's on an official survey, she'll carry them and other equipment in a utilitarian, nonmagical grey cloth satchel.



RELATIONSHIPS


Otto Lind- He's the only reason she's still alive and quite possibly the only person she wouldn't turn on in a bind, though she'd never admit either of these things. The simple fact that she's an explorer, and that he's in charge of the explorers, keeps the greater part of her shenanigans in check. Of course, for someone like Otto, grand tales are routine, and her story probably merits less than the tiniest footnote. Gods help anyone who tried to do the man harm, once she found out about it, though....

Ben Tai- If Otto is the one person that she would least like to suffer, barring herself, Ben is the one she'd like to suffer the most. She thinks it's a miracle that his employees haven't slit his throat, and finds his business reprehensible, possibly thanks to a botched attempt by the man to take her under his wing.

Lucien Bloodstorm- Everyone needs a rival, and for some reason, she insists that the knight of the Order is hers. Rumor has it that she tried to join the Order, and that went about as well as you might expect- she seems to find him personally responsible, and thoroughly enjoys attempting to provoke and needle him at every turn when she's not out exploring.

Gavin Mercer- She's only heard of him by reputation. Thinks he might know what she really is. Good at killing things. If he did it with a bit more panache, she might actually be slightly afraid of him. She totally isn't!

The City Guard- Fun-ruiners of the worst sort. Reports of her own criminal activity are greatly exaggerated.
