Vampire Blood; Tastes like chicken?

It sort of came up on the chat box, but I was curious as to how other people weighed in on the subject. Ramya has just nibbled on the lovely Amelia and I wanted to know if drinking from a vampire would reveal them to be one.

I'm obviously a little biased considering I'm in the scene, but I sort of think that a vampire would be able to detect another vampire based on the tasting of blood.

For one, the blood wouldn't be warm and vampires are able to decipher fae/werewolf/mortal blood from one another that you'd think they could pick each other out by taking a few pulls.

What do you think?

I agree, there also would not be a pulse governing the blood flow, presumably little to no white blood cells (no doubt making it taste odd). According to the game, anything aside from blood tastes like ash. To me, the logical line of thinking is that with only one thing to enjoy, most vamps would be something of connoisseurs (though note to Ventrue levels without merits/flaws).

And there's the last point. Bye imbibing, I'd say yes Ramya knows. By the exact same logic, I'd say Ramya is now one step towards a blood bond with Amelia. Fun times!

I agree with you two.
Doesn't Kindred blood increase in viscosity with age? Granted, Amelia isn't that old yet.
Another thing is that, from my understanding, Kindred no longer pass blood via the circulatory system, but rather through a form of blood osmosis. I'd describe the process as being akin to sucking on a sponge, whereas with a normal human it'd be akin to sucking from a straw.

White blood cells make up roughly 1% of the blood constitution, but like Greame said, vampires could be attuned to that sort of stuff. Blood plasma might also have a different ratio in comparison with red blood cells, which would explain why vampire blood becomes more viscous as time goes by (lower plasma levels means more blood viscosity.)

If they can distinguish between blue blood and ... blood even though there is no biological difference between the two, then I'd say they can probably tell vamp blood from human blood.

Thank you for the input. It was a big help and now I can move forward with my reply - and the many others that I owe (it is the best problem to have).
