![]() With a plan in mind, Agatha has begun to explore the local library. She had politely sought the advice from one of the assisstants. Amid the low gas lit interior and wreathed in the strange, dusty smell of ancient books, wide eyed, Agatha skips between the aisles of the library shelves, carrying her new lavender coloured parasol across her shoulder. Emulating Melissa's style, she's sporting the parasol with cheery aplomb. Small and lithe, Agatha has startling porcelain skin, fair hair and excited, eager eyes. With her hair tied into two long plaited braids tied with dark purple ribbon bows. She's dressed a little younger than her years might suggest - the coding of the plaits and hair worn down indicates she wishes to be seen as youthful. Agatha's dressed in a smart news woollen shawl, a little bonnet matching her parasol and embroidered money purse. The hem of her skirt is short enough to match the style of youthfulness and shows her single stockinged leg to mid calf. She's wearing a single laced boot and that once more, it's clear from her aroma, her wooden leg is neatly polished with beeswax. Her wooden leg taps hard. Her path between aisles marked by the alternating tap of peg leg on carpet and polished floor tiles as she heads towards the section of reference books, and atlases, more specifically. Her limp is much more pronounced without her cane to help. |

Ramya had made it a point to linger in the libraries with the hopes of running into one of the warlocks, allowing her to entrap them into a conversation and pull whatever information she could from them. Alas, she had been wandering the aisles for what seemed like hours without any sign of one. She had nearly reached the point where she would take her leave when she became distracted by the sound of tapping. The curious noise had her straightening, large eyes peering over the edge of a bookshelf to seek out the cause of it. Like an unexpected visitor knocking on the door, a trembling of excitement ran down the length of her spine. Perhaps the visit among the rows of volumes would not be such a waste. It was the rose color of the parasol, such a feminine color contrasting against the dark, masculine leather of book covers that caught her eyes and from there everything came into view. Those braids and the rhythmic bobbing of Agatha as she took a stroll around the room. So young and yet out so late and unaccompanied. Her lips curved into a slow smile as she lowered herself down once more, gaze drifting from one side to the other before adopting the mask of obfuscation. Hiding in plain sight, she could trail after the young woman and watch her until an opportune moment presented itself. Agatha was a lone swimmer in a deep ocean and Ramya was the shark beginning to circle. |

Unaware of Ramya's presence, Agatha is smiling to herself. Bright eyed and with as much bounce in her step as her wooden leg allows, and, doubtless following earlier advice from a librarian, she collects a map book covering the local region from the shelf. Holding the map book with care, she hobbles over to them nearest reading desk and busies herself to sit down. Parasol on the back of the chair. The book laid out with care. The small creatue, still smiling, sits down. Her wooden leg sticks out at an odd angle. Soon, Agatha's flipping through the maps and selects one page covering York. Once the page is selected, she rummages under her shawl and from some hidden pocket, produces a deck of elaborately drawn cards. Tarot cards! Still unaware of Ramya, with great care and attention to her actions tiny Agatha lays out several cards around the opened map book. |

She moved through the room like a specter, only one that the medium could not sense - at least not entirely. It was likely that she felt a presence at her back, like a shadow looming behind her as she headed towards the table. Ramya was careful to remain out of touching distance, even as that leg jutted out, wanting to maintain the obfuscation for as long as she needed. Her hands clasped at the small of her back, her form leaning in to inspect the map and then as the cards began to flip, her attention shifted to them and the images depicted upon them. She had come across many fortune tellers and spirit guides in her lifetime, but the reading of cards was nothing she had ever experienced. She listened, waiting to see if the girl would mention anything of their meaning aloud and to herself, or if she would have to drop her cloak and reveal herself to learn more. |

Her deck of Marseille Tarot* is well worn, but has the appearance of being well cared for too. Tiny Agatha lays the deck to the side of the largest map book and, as she flips through the pages pauses to turn over the next top most card. Nodding to herself or pausing and appearing to be in contemplation of things. If this is a performance, she is playing only for her own benefit. After 10 minutes tiny Agatha pauses once more and, thinking she's alone, gently and meekly hitches up her frock and dress a few inches. Just enough to reveal the knee area of peg leg and she proceeds to spend a few urgent moments rubbing at the shaft itself. Blinking, she then corrects her dress to a more modest position and resumes staring at map of the Yorkshire Moors and reading each top most card. Returning the one she's just read to a growing pile at the opposite side of the map book. * The more well-known and popular Rider-Waite deck we know today isn't devised until 1910. It was the rubbing of her leg, the exposing of that wooden limb that drew the Serpent's curious gaze away from the cards. She watched in silence as Agatha continued to believe she was alone, but once her attention drifted back to the maps, Ramya slid away to find some hidden corner to drop the cloak. An older lady emerged from the shadows, dressed in a simple garment that implied she was middle to lower class, but took pride in her appearance. Her grey hair was drawn back into a bun, not obscuring her wrinkled face - the lines around her eyes and mouth indicating that she was the type of woman who lived a happy life and smiled a lot.* She had a cane that thumped against the floor as she shuffled around the library, slowly making her way over towards the young Malkavian at the table. Her lips curved at the sight, head bowing in greeting, "Good evening to you.." She spoke with an English accent that confirmed her lower station, her voice warbling a little from her age. Agatha turned over the Queen of Cups and lay it above the topmost page of the map. Blinking, she was reaching for the next card as she heard the tap of a cane and the warble of a greeting. Clearly startled, Agatha blinked and stood up as a mark of respect. Wobbling on her peg leg, she grabbed for the desk and nodded; "Good evening, ma'am!" she chirped once she was steady. "I hope I wasn't disturbing you! Do you wish to consult the map book?" she added, sincere and smiling at the friendly old lady. |

"No.. no, my child. You haven't bothered me at all.." she crooned in a soft tone, "I saw you sitting here and thought you might enjoy some company." Her lips curved into a smile and her face creased with the expression, her pale blue eyes shining with what could only be described as affection."If you would prefer to be alone, I can take these worn bones elsewhere..." her words trailed off as she saw the cards, a brow arching with a feigned curiosity, "Oh my.. are those cards for divining the future?" |

As the Old Lady speaks, Agatha smiles and nods reassuringly, making hand gestures to invite the lady to be seated. Once attention is drawn to the tarot, Agatha nods again. "Er, yes, ma'am, they are. Tarot cards..." she blinks humbly, as if she isn't really worthy to be accessing their powers. "I hope they don't offend you, ma'am..." the small creature offers. Timid and nervous. "Do you have an interest in such things, ma'am?" she tried a shy smile, hoping for some common-ground, or at least to avoid some hostile reaction. |

It seemed like an eternity between the time the old woman was standing and settled in a chair near Agatha, her movements slow and controlled as bones creaked and ached with each bend. Once seated, she set the cane against the table and clasped her hands in her lap, pressure often applied to the palms as she rubbed them together seeming to ease some pain that was felt there. She chuckled lightly under her breath, "Oh no, child. I have lived too long and seen too much to be offended. I am curious.. these spirit guides and talking boards seem to be all anyone ever talks about these days. I'm afraid I know nothing of them.. but would love to learn.." |
