Madame Speaker, I would like to say that I believe the gentlelady from Illinois, is clearly mistaken if she believes that abortion is about a woman's right to choose. I am a woman and I think abortion is morally and ethically wrong. I guess in her eyes that makes me a man since she seems to think that only men oppose abortion. I think that a child has a right to be born and I think it is appalling that she would stoops to such low moves as to suggest that men should not have an opinion on an abortion, because they most certainly have that right as they are typically the fathers of these babies! |

Madam Chair, I am appalled that a single issue for a woman who helped opened the door for women to enter politics has become such a flash point on a bill of recognition. I will not address the issue of abortion at this time, because it is irrelevant to what the bill seeks to recognize. Nay to amend. Aye to support the ruling of the chair. Aye to Call the Previous Question. I also ask, as a woman who probably would not be standing here except for Geraldine Ferraro, to be added as a cosponsor. I yield the floor at this time, but reserve the balance of my time. |

The Gentlelades from Georgia and Florida shall be added as cosponsors. The Motion to call the previous question passes by 307-128. The motion to Amend passes 238-197. The motion to overturn the Chair's ruling on germanity fails 213-222. The Bill shall be moved to an immediate vote. |
