The Speaker would remind Members that time for voting on the measures has expired nor was the motion to table recognized. Debate continues. |

Madame Speaker, I apologize on my 'late' vote on the motion to table. But if I do recal, the remainder is still allowed. I yield. |

Madame Speaker, I want to thank my economics degree from WVU in making me the budget hawk I am. I want to say that the Democratic-side has argued throughout this debate that federal growth spending under President Obama flat lined, or relatively did so. The argument they are using is cited in numerous graphs presented to this body by Rex Nutting of MarketWatch. I am going to immediately going to show this body why that argument is false. First, Nutting took practically all of 2009 out of President Obama's column. He assumed that because the budget was decided under President Bush, it was set in stone. As we already know that is not true. Most appropriation bills signed under President Obama in 2009 were very expensive to the 2009 fiscal year. What should really be used is are the CBO's analysis figures. These are the real numbers: 2008: $2.98 trillion 2009: $3.27 trillion 2010: $3.46 trillion 2011: $3.60 trillion 2012: 3.43 trillion This is hardly a flattening. In fact, it takes two to play and Congress negotiated the 2012 budget cuts down considerably. Here were the numbers proposed by President Obama: 2010: $3.67 trillion 2011: $3.80 trillion 2012: $3.71 trillion Democrats also fail to acknowledge that inflation was much different under President Obama and under President Reagan who they attack for spending. Reagan dealt with a considerably larger inflation rate than that of President Obama. While President Reagan's spending compared to the economy was 12.5%. The spending compared to the economy during President Obama's tenure remained in the upper 20's. Don't ignore the facts and forget that the economy is a factor in spending! I Yield |
