Voice therapy can be provided by a certified speech-language pathologist. This type of therapy has been shown to be effective in treating hoarseness, or as part treatment for a more serious vocal disorder such vocal fold paralysis or tremor. Treatment usually consists of guided changes in lifestyle and vocal behaviors. Sessions may occur once or twice weekly, for approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on the severity of the problem. Treatment success also depends on the commitment and practice of the individual seeking treatment. source (and for further information): ASHA and voice therapy |

The American Speech-Language Hearing Association offers a searchable, online directory of certified (hold their Certificate of Clinical Competency) speech-language pathologists. You can search by city, state/province, or country. You can also select your age group and the practitioner's language.
