| Welcome to the Star Trek: Voyager message board RPG! We're a small, laid-back RPG that's been around since May 2005. You can read and enjoy our stories as a guest, but we'd love it if you joined and participated too. If you'd like to join, read this thread about how to get started and follow the steps in the first post. We hope to see you around the boards! |

Krys rubbed her chin, mentally reviewing every schematic she could think of, "There aren't any Bio-neural relays here, calibrations are gonna be a nightmare in any case, but if I can reroute current past the faulty switch, it'll probably even out some of the fluctiations. What do we have in the way of replacement parts?" |

"I can't say for sure, but we definitely have a Heisenberg Compensator" He said, showing it to her, "it's fine, though", he reassured her. "Maybe we can use a flux inhibitor... assuming we can build one" He added. |

"How far off are we talking about?" Janeway asked. "Are you saying we could materialize in empty space?" |

Krys slid over to her own console and sat down, bringing up one status screen after the other. "I'm sending you the Heisen graphs for each of the positronic interlocks. Check and compare the readings over the past 40 minute periods and let me know if there's anything unusual. I'm going to run a full isometric analysis on the secondary an tertiary throughput monitors. If anything fails and we miss a power spike, I don't want to know what the other side of the transporter beam is going to spit out." |

Thomas tilted his head as he thought about it shortly. "Well, thats a possibility i'm not going to lie." He answered. "But this..." he gestured to their surroundings. "Is some sort of alternate dimension or universe, or even timeline. What i'm saying is that if we go back through the tear, we might not end up in our dimension." He gulped a little before turning to retrieve a drink of water from the kitchen tap. "I don't know what will happen when we go through." |

Jaden nodded in agreement, "Yes Ma'am", he stated, as he pulled up the systems on the monitor, and looked through them one at a time, correcting any errors as they showed up. He fixed a stabilizer misalignment and the high pitched noise he was hearing suddenly stopped, "thank god" he muttered. |

This was significantly worse than expected. Janeway had a momentary flash of the team hopping through dimensions, through one tear after another, desperately trying to find their own. Lost. It felt all too familiar. No. That was not happening again. "If we calibrate the transporters to our universe's specific quantum resonance frequency, we should at least be able to locate it," she reasoned aloud. "We just need a way to keep them aligned long enough for the transport to complete." |

Murphy considered the Captain's musings. "I suppose that might work. It'll be difficult without the proper equipment though." He paced the kitchen, sipping his water again. As he neared the end of one of a pace he turned suddenly on the spot towards the Captain. "If we could cut through the subspace interference, we can lock onto our own universes quantum resonance frequency... we could use an Antisopteric Converter to purge the transport stream of interference. That should keep the stream stable long enough for us to get through." Murphy paused and looked around the kitchen. "It will be difficult to build one without the proper parts, and we would need someone here to keep it aligned whilst we're in the stream." |

ooc: Brilliant! ic: That complicated things. Janeway thought of the individuals they'd encountered while here. None of them particularly inspired her confidence. "Make a list of what you'd need to build it," she told Murphy. "In the meantime, we'll just have to bring one of the locals up to speed on how to operate it." |

Alina blinked a couple times. She could read that face. She was seeing her own all-too-familiar facial expressions reflected in this face that she'd created in her head. The face was not her own, but the inner turmoil was just visible enough for Alina to notice. Then like the sun emerging from behind the clouds, it was all packed away and her favorite sardonic smirk came out to play on Krys' features. Then all too soon, she was pulled away to the responsibilities of a Starship Lieutenant. Alina wandered past the consoles, attempting to understand the graphs, grids, code, and data scrolling across the screens. Some of it made sense. Most of it was unintelligible based on the sheer mass of terminology with which she was unfamiliar. This stuff was way more advanced than the typical TV show technobabble that she knew. She tapped Jaden on the shoulder "do you guys have a PADD that has a glossary or terminology index on it?" |

Jaden turned his head to see Alina, "I'm afraid I don't, but I'll try to answer any questions you might have", he offered as he worked. One of the best talents that the borg gave jaden was multitasking, it wasn't always a good thing to have, but at times like these, it came in handy. He reached down to pick up a flux coupler, or rather, the very crude version of one, making his borg implants on his hand visible. |

She shrugged, "It's mostly just definitions I'm struggling with. Stuff I don't recognize from the show. Like this," She pointed, "Heisen Graph." As she pulled her arm back, ste accidentally brushed some of the metal work and automatically looked down. Her eyes widened and she breathed a single word almost inaudibly, "Borg." She stared and then recovered herself, alternatively grinning in wonder and grimacing with pity. "You're like Seven, aren't you?" |

"Yes, I am. I hope that doesn't frighten you, the borg are rather threatening in nature" he said to her, taking a moment to study her reaction. After a moment of silence, he focused again on the task at hand, "the heisen graph is the calculation chart necessary to align the heisenberg compensators, which basically take care of the uncertainty principle, which pretty much states that at any given moment a molecule moves so fast that it seems like it's in two places at once, so it's impossible to calculate the exact position of any of them at a given time, which would be necessary for transporter technology to work" he explains, and added "it's pretty complicated stuff". He recalibrated the EPS Manifold, noticing a slight discrepancy. "Then, of course, there's also the power requirements... which will probably be a slight issue", he said, taking note of how ancient the building looks by comparison to voyager. "Lieutenant, do you see anything resembling a targeting array in here? I can't seem to find it", Jaden noticed and asked. |

Alina shook her head, "No of course not! I'm a little sad for your sake, because as young as you are, they must have stolen some significant part of your childhood. But your implants appear to be minimal. I'd guess you weren't a drone for very long. Plus you're free, which is always cause for celebration." She pressed a finger to her lips as the conversation continued and he began explaining the Heisen graphs. "That's so fascinating, I think I kind of get it. So this spike is the compensators, powering up I guess? Then when the lines split, that's the transfer of matter, and when they merge together again, that's the beam powering down, right?" //--------------------------------------------// Krys looked over as Jaden made his inquiry. Acknowledging the question, she skimmed the nearby interfaces, searching for the proper layout. Nowadays, most of the consoles interfaces were modular and customizable. In this case, however, the screens were plastic and glass, Preset, and minimally functional. They were also poorly organized. A replicator sat across the room surrounded on either side by a weapons station and what appeared to be the control panel for a sonic shower (with no shower to be found). With some effort, she located it on the far side of the room next to a holodeck control matrix and no holodeck. "Over here!" |

Jaden smiled and nodded at alina, "you got it... you're a pretty quick learner", he said. Just after, he heard Krys find the targeting array and he got up to go get it, "excuse me for just one second", he said politely to alina as he went to retrieve it. Coming back to the transporter consoles, he began installing the targeting array. "I was 4 when I was assimilated, most of the implants that I had were internal, with the exception of my assimilation tubules and some modification points. The ship I was on crashed and I was severed from the collective, after that I was taken in by the Ktarians" he said. He pointed to his left eye "this eye, is false, it houses my ocular sensor, which is the sensor that the borg usually have over their eye". |
