OOC: I decided to start up another CC topic (not totally connected with the other two, but there might be some mentions of them). In this one, there's no set story, it's basically a free-for-all to have fun, with the added benefit of creative talent. If any main story is found within the posts, then everyone is free to explore it and add to it, or even to take it in a whole new direction. ![]() Have fun! IC: It started out as a typical day on Voyager, the crew had been through a lot in these past few weeks, it was time for a break. Crew rotations were set up for leisure, just like they had originally done in the Delta Quadrant, finding such a schedule to be helpful in times like these. Outside the ship, war still waged against the Dominion, the Federation was still in a panic, and Earth was still under siege. But on board, at least for today, it was like vacation. That is, until things started happening... |

Neelix was pouring over some culinary logs from the federation's vast network of new foods that he hadn't yet tried and found something called 'pound cake'. He decided to add that to the menu for today's lunch. Other things on the menu included Leola Root Souffle (which he had already made to perfection), various casseroles, and root beer (along with other drinks which Neelix didn't think sounded as interesting as root beer but nevertheless added anyway just in case). Indeed it was an extremely exotic selection of items. Neelix thought this day's lunch would be remembered for months to come. He started gathering the ingredients to make the casseroles but was having trouble with the replicator. "Computer, now I know you and I have had some differences in the past but all I want are some green beans, sweet potatoes, cream of mushroom soup, something called french fried unions, a small bowl of brown sugar, and a small bowl of pecans." The computer beeped at him furiously and replicated the tray along with the proper bowls, but every bowl was filled with dry vole bones. "No, no this isn't right at all." He placed the tray back into the replicator and it swiftly disappeared. He walked over to his refrigerator which had some ingredients, but nothing he needed. He pulled out a large thermos and poured a small cup of his favorite coffee-substituting slop to drink. He then set the cup and the thermos down and tapped his combadge. Neelix to engineering, I seem to be having a little problem with my replicator and unless someone fixes it, today's lunch will be ruined. Could you maybe send somebody to fix it?

| Next time on "Cooking With Neelix," I'll tell you all about that one time I accidentally made all of the pots and pans in the kitchen fall out of the cupboards. Captain Janeway was FURIOUS! The Officers joked for months about how they could hear the noise all the way from the bridge. | |

NPC: Lt. Torres: "Torres here. I'll send someone down as soon as I can, we've got a number of malfunctions all over the ship at the moment." ![]() Just then, Ensign Terak walked in and stood at the kitchen's main bar/table, overhearing only the last part of the comm transmission. |

Neelix looked over at Ensign Terak, who just walked in, and decided to greet him. "Ah, I'm terribly sorry Ensign, but it would seem as though the only thing we will be having today for lunch is the Leola Root Souffle I made last night. I still have some fresh vegetables and maybe I could whip something up, but my replicator is down so I won't be able to make any of the requested items, at least not today. Oh, where are my manors. What can I get for you?" |

"Just coffee for now. If your replicator's down I could take a look. I took several engineering classes in the academy, and I was Borg, either one of those individually would give me a decent head start. What seems to be the problem?" Terak asked. NPC: Lieutenant Mulcahey Mulcahey walked into the mess hall with a tool set that most engineers carried throughout the ship, "I heard you were having problems with the replicator? I was just down the hall finishing up some work when I got the call." he said to Neelix. |

Neelix turned to Ensign Terak and smiled. "Well I'm sure either one of you could fix the problem in that case. I've made a list of things that I need for today's dishes but all the replicator will give me is dry vole bones. In the meantime, I'll grab some coffee. Would you like some, Lieutenant?" Without waiting for a response, Neelix happily walked over to his galley and poured two cups of regular coffee that he always has on hand. After pouring the cups, he walked to the counter and set them both down. "Oh, I forgot to ask how you both want your coffee!" |

"Two cubes of sugar with some milk, if you would." Terak replied. NPC: Lt. Mulcahey: "This is fine, Neelix, thanks." he said, taking a sip. He walked over to the replicator and opened it's panel, as well as his tool kit. He began working on the subsystems first, thinking it could be simply a malfunctioning subroutine in the replication matrix. He used and coil dampener to shut down one of the coils so he could get in close to it, but just then, the replicator started shooting out soap bubbles, replicating them at an alarming rate. Terak: Jaden looked over, hearing the racket, and saw a steady stream of bubbles coming out of the replicator, he raised an eyebrow, having never seen such a thing before. |

Neelix nodded and went back into the galley to retrieve the sugar and the milk. As he was taking the milk out of the refrigerator, he heard the sound of bubbles forming as if something had been boiling. He looked around thinking he had put something on and forgot about it but seeing nothing was cooking made him question whether the sound was real or not. Nonetheless he continued with his order. He sat the sugar and milk on the counter and added two cubes to the remaining cup and started pouring the milk when he looked over and saw all of the bubbles coming out of the replicator. By this point they were making puddles on the floor beside Lt. Mulcahey. Neelix gasped in shock, dropped the milk on the floor by accident, and rushed into the galley to get a bucket, but finding none he instead grabbed a large pot to put under the replicator to catch the bubbles. Once he put it down he sighed in relief, not remembering that he also spilled the milk behind the counter. "I wonder what's gotten into this thing..." |

Terak stirred his coffee and took a sip. NPC: Mulcahey: "I don't know, but I can't shut it off, give me a minute." he said as the soap bubbles continued shooting out of the replicator at high speed. Before long they had filled the room. Finally, Mulcahey cut power to the replicator from the main system, and it shut down, ending the great bubble disaster of 2379. "Got it... now if we can just figure out a way to clean this up..." he said, soap bubbles floating around the room. |

Neelix was devastated because his mess hall was ruined by the bubbles. "Isn't there some device you usually use for cleanups like this? Of course I realize that there has never been a cleanup quite like this before, but surely there's some kind of device for similar cleanup?" He walked around the counter, discovering the milk that he had spilled, but knowing there were hundreds of bubbles strewn across the floor he calmly picked up the container and put it back into the refrigerator. He grabbed his cup of 'coffee substitute' and walked back out of the galley. |

"You might have luck with the ship's automated cleaning system, which, come to think of it, should have already kicked in" said Terak, taking another sip of his coffee. NPC: Mulcahey: "That system's down right now, part of the problems we've been having today... wait a minute..." he said, pulling out a rubber chicken from the inner circuitry. "Where the hell did this come from?" he asked with a confused look. Terak: Terak sighed and shook his head, "That's the second rubber chicken I've seen come out of circuitry this month... the first being when the computer transported some of us to that other reality." he mentioned. |

"I remember that! Thankfully for me, I wasn't transported like a lot of you were. Hopefully that doesn't happen again." Neelix finished his coffee (if you could call it that) and took his cup to the galley to pour another round. He poured it into his glass and set it down on the counter to try to find some Leola root in order to make a snack. There was no more Leola root as he used it all for the Souffle. He sighed and when he went to pick up his cup again, he noticed that it had a small fuzzy creature inside of it instead of his coffee. He took it back out to the other two. "Have either of you seen this before?" He picked up the fuzzy creature and held it up in his hand. |

Terak turned around to see what Neelix was referring to, and spat half of his coffee out, "A tribble?!" he exclaimed. "Whatever you do, don't feed it, or we'll have a billion of them." he warned. |

"A... Tribble?" Neelix felt guilty at the idea that he couldn't feed the small ball of fur, but nonetheless he followed Ensign Terak's precaution as he knew nothing about the species. Then, he looked down and saw that some of his coffee was missing and hadn't apparently turned into the creature as Neelix originally thought. "It may be a little late for that, Ensign..." |

Terak looked at neelix's cup, then back at the tribble, "Oh, great... I'd better inform the captain and get security ready." he said. He drank the rest of his coffee and headed out the door toward the turbolift. |
