His triumphant smile didn't waver one bit. "But that's exactly my point! In that Voyager's universe they fail. But you're obviously not from that universe, so you'll succeed!"

"You have no way of knowing that, and I'm not in favor of a plan that blows up any version of my ship. Which brings me to another question... just how many times have you killed us? From what we saw, it seems to be a common theme in your writing"

As though the computer lost its luster, Harry suddenly snapped out of his trance and exclaimed, "Yeah! Just how many times did you kill us? That's what I'd like to know!"

"Please don't tell us any more than we absolutely have to know," Tuvok interrupted, fearing that Harry would not be able to cope with the truth as Tuvok understood that Harry seemed to be a special target of Berman and Braga.

"Let's come back to that test. What if you would write a scene in which Harry gets promoted to Lieutenant for his good work. We should see the effect in Harry's uniform especially rank pins immediately if our theory is correct."

Berman started to hammer away on his keyboard and explained: "Janeway promotes Harry at the end of --- well, I better don't tell --- and in a joyous ceremony at the mess hall, he becomes Lieutenant. There! Done!"

Everybody watched Harry like some exhibit at the museum. The seconds passed but nothing happened. He remained the same old Ensign Kim.

"Hmmm...." Berman began, "Did I do something wrong or is your theory false?"

"It seems Harry can't become Lieutenant no matter what," Tuvok added.

Crestfallen, Harry slowly ebbed into his trance and stared once again at the c omputer with unabashed excitement at the archaic display monitor.

"Preeeettyyyyy!"

"I have a vague memory of some article in the Prime Directive stating that ops ensigns aren't allowed to be promoted..." Janeway mused. "Try something else."

Berman again began to type on his keyboard while explaining:
"I simply rewrite a very small detail.... let's see... I add a beauty spot to Jeri... Seven Of Nine's left cheek... a bit of dialog about her beauty... and..."

Everyone stared at Seven waiting for her to grow a beauty spot. The moments passed but nothing happened.

"It still does not work. Apparently, these Bermans and Braggers are not the ones who could write us back!" Tuvok stated.

"Well then who can? There has to be a reason we're here, and if it wasn't that they wrote us here, then what is it?"

OOC: Well, Phantom hinted at it earlier...BIC:

Tuvok closed his eyes for concentration.

"The Captain is correct. There has to be and there is a reason why we are here. Logic dictates it. So we have to figure it out."

He looked at everybody, his eyes inviting a brainstorming session.

"Hmmm," Harry said rubbing his chin and looking up at the ceiling, pondering. "Why are we here?"

"Does anyone else write for this television show?"

Berman scratched his head. "Well, Jeri Taylor does, but she's off this week."

"Would she be writing anyway?"

"Probably not."

"Is she the only other writer?"

"Yes! Would you people stop interrogating me?" He crossed the room to the coffee maker, which, unfortunately, was empty, making his trip pointless. "I don't know why you're here, but it obviously isn't my fault, so leave me alone."

ooc: We could have some random officer who was browsing the internet articles find fanfiction accidentally... and then stumble upon our roleplay?

Tuvok leaned back in his chair next to Berman.

"Let's start to research all these public non-passwortd-protected resources."

Berman blinked: "Eh - what?"

Tuvok pointed to the screen.

"What you got open here in the background. I assume you did research for the show?"

Berman blushed: "Well, that is called the internet. And, uh-uh, I, yes. I, y'know, sometimes you don't know all the details and look up something and-"

Braga walked over, watched the screen and laughed: "YOU are researching at Memory Alpha? That's a fan database! That's funny!"

Tuvok ignored the banter: "We should check all these out."

Harry peered over Tuvok's shoulder at the screen.

"I seem to keep dying on these roleplays," he observed. "It's a good thing these aren't the reeal writers of our Voyage home. Otherwise, I would have been dead already!" He gave a healthy little chortle.

"Here!" Tuvok loudly said shouting into Harry's ear and pointed a logic but triumphant finger at the screen.

"Here on that page addressed as http://z11.invisionfree.com/Voyager/ is a description of a scene in which Mr. Kim ultimatively sends us back to the 20th century by pressing a red button. That was written in there by the members of this roleplay, a very primitive way of entertaining oneself back then."

He looked up to Janeway.

"This is where it all started! These people are responsible for our situation!"
He gave Harry a look.
"In these times, Mr. Kim seems to be notorious for highly irrational things so we should discuss his involment in this disaster in a future report to the Captain."

He read some more.

"It seems the task at hand is to find the administrator of this roleplay. She is mentioned here as being called Phantom. She is Captain Janeway in this game. We need to find her and convince her to 'write us back'. Now where do we start?" he addressed the group.

OOC: Interesting twist, eh? Now we will see Phantom talk with herself sooner or later, hahaha!
