OOC: Your last post was h-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s, Phantom! not fond of the idea of balls of paint doing anything on her ship BIC: "Please continue Phantom. Do you think we all will fit into this archaic vehicle? Will it carry us all the way safely or will we arrive dead?" Tuvok asked seriously, eyeing the car with honest concern. He turned to Faelon: "You are at the helm of this... aren't you- does it have shields?" |

ooc: We do have a lot of those, don't we? If anybody's interested in reviving them, I think we'd all get back into them. *totally not a hint* lol.And thank you, Pete. ![]() ic: Phantom glanced around at the group. Faelon, herself, Janeway, Tuvok, Chaim, and Harry... "We'll have to wedge four people in the backseat. It's not exactly legal, but..." she shrugged. They didn't really have any other options, unless they wanted to leave one of them here by themselves. But they needed Faelon to drive, and herself to fix the story, and leaving someone from the future alone in Sacramento next to a Star Trek convention was most certainly not a good idea. She opted to let Faelon answer the question about shields; she didn't think she could manage it without laughing. |

Before he knew it, Harry found himself wedged between Janeway and Tuvok with Chaim on the other side of Tuvok. Janeway's bony knees were jabbing into his left ribs and Tuvok's elbow crammed into his right ear. "I hope we don't need to be in this position for too long," he complained under his breath but loud enough for everyone to hear. "It's so uncomfortable!" |

To Phantom: "Yeah, you're right, we can't leave anybody behind. Although, given the abundance of coffee shops on EVERY street corner, I imagine that Janeway wouldn't mind being left here for a little while...I jest, Phantom, I jest!" To Tuvok: "The trip will be very safe, I assure you. I don't, erm, have shields...but, uh...my car is designed...um...*thinks hard* it utilizes a design which dampens impact momentum and force, redirecting all damage to the vehicle in order to protect its passengers. You could, perhaps, say that it is an 'intertial dampener.'" to the whle group: "That was a joke, for those of you who laugh." To Harry: "Unfortunately, the journey back to Phantom's house usually takes around 90 minutes, and given the fact that my car will be working harder than normal to transport more weight than it was designed to carry, it could take over two hours. I have a spacious trunk, though, if you really can't stand bony knees!" |

Harry cocked his head to one side, away from Tuvok's elbow and said, "Trunk? Is it more roomy?" |

Rezit looked around. "A trunk? Where would you have room for a storage container? I don't see one."

It was impossible for Harry to whip his head around what with all the body parts poking at him. "I...I think I can manage," he lied since he noticed all eyes were now on him. He always wanted to be the one who was the model starfleet officer who never complained about anything. |

Chaim looked around. "The back? All I see is a bulkhead." |

"It is sufficient back here," Tuvok tried to end the discussion with firm voice, himself being anything but comfortable - Vulcans hardly sought the physical nearness of humans. "I am positive your ships' systems will be safe enough as well," he said with lesser firm voice. He believed that Faelon was telling the truth, but then it Faelons' comments were based on a technology that was simply was not even medieval for 24th century standards. |

"Yeah, you could go in the trunk if you wanted, Harry, but you'll be jostled around a lot, so I don't advise it. At least back there you're safe. However, you could do this thing that my friend did once where he laid longways on everyone's laps! I guess it's a decision of which sort of discomfort you're most comfortable with!" To Tuvok: "Don't worry, she'll keep us safe. She's brought me through some close scrapes before. I like to think that if 'you treat her like a lady, then she'll always bring you home.' Admiral McCoy said that." |

Harry squeezed himself out of the tight spot between Janeway and Tuvok and soon found himself stretched out on everyone's lap. He was now gazing up at the captain. "Uh, hi captain!" |

Janeway found the entire situation both uncomfortable and more than slightly embarrassing. Being smaller than the others in the vehicle, she had found herself squashed up against the side of the vehicle, but now, having Ensign Kim... erm... laying across their laps... she realized she would rather be squished again. This was just a little too awkward. |

The situation was ridicously embarrassing. And it was - at least for Janeway who probably was the only one to really understand how sharply the Vulcan intimacy threshold is defined - in a comic sense touching when Tuvok, realizing the Captain's positiion, sacrificed his own dignity, pulled Harry away from Janway's lap up to him and the two looked like brothers hugging each other. "In whatever situation you are," he growled, deadly serious as always, "You must not forget that the Captain of a starfleet ship can expect a certain amount of respect." |
