"Absolutely not," Janeway said firmly. "We can't risk using our technology in front of them."

"Okay, we can't outrun them, we won't outgun them, and we certainly can't let them detain us, which they most certainly will do when they see how many of us are in this car...Tuvok, would you be able to do some kind of Vulcan mind trick or something? Can you meld with them to make them forget all this, or maybe to at least get some answers out of them? That's the only idea I've got."

"This is such a time travel episode..." Phantom muttered.

The blaring sirens were drawing closer, much too close for comfort that Harry only sighed and sank deeper into the seat.

"We've pretty much polluted the time line more than any Starfleet officer I know," he muttered miserably.

"Not more than Kirk!"

"Okay, so the governor is after you guys for being in his office...that means that there's nothing wrong with me or my car, so they're checking me up right now and finding that I have no record...if I were to pull over, what would they do? They can't seize you guys, can they? And they can't do anything to me, no crime has been committed. The only thing they could do would be to get me with a warning for having too many people in my car, right? Maybe we should come up with some kind of story about how someone in here is in an emergency situation and we all had to pile into one car. Quick, someone think of an emergency!"

"Um..." Phantom turned to look in the back seat, where she was met with four blank stares. "My... ankle... is... broken?"

"But that's no emergency!" Chaim cried out, "A dermal regenerator could fix that in an instant! How about... umm... one of us is intoxicated and needs prompt medical attention?"

"NO!" Phantom said a little too loudly. "Bringing alcohol into this is a very very bad idea. And we don't have dermal regenerators. And I thought those were only for skin?"

"How do you know that?" Janeway asked.

"It's on the TV show," Phantom said before realizing that would open up more questions that probably shouldn't be answered.

"Hey, maybe we could lie and tell them that one of you womenfolk are pregnant! I have a jacket you can stuff up your shirt to look the part. This way, the large number of costumed people in the car makes sense because we could all be heading to a party!" Faelon sensed that his comment introduced unecessary tension in the car, but it was the only feasible idea anybody had thrown out at all, and he was getting nervous about the sirens.

Suddenly aware of their own femininity, Phantom and Janeway slowly turned to look at each other.

"We're not pregnant," Janeway said unnecessarily.

OOC: Mwuahaha! Well that saves my day and gets my thoughts off of my harddisk drama... marvelous! Let's hop on this... BIC:

"I can not help but applauding the logic in Faelons' idea," Tuvok said much to the ladies' dismay, somehow taking the lead in the discussion, and then towards Faelon: "Please hand over your jacket as soon as possible. These officers are approaching. And one of the ladies should put that jacket to good use - quick!"

Logical, sober, well-shaved and unbearably reasonable. Commander Tuvok ready to enervate you!

"One of you two womenfolk had better take one for the team soon, 'cause I'm pulling over!"

He pulled over, finally, and hastily tossed his jacket at Tuvok. The cops stopped behind him and one got out and started toward the car.

"Give it to me, we wouldn't put the pregnant person in the backseat," Phantom said, sensing she might have been ordered to do it anyway. Tuvok handed her the jacket and she stuffed it under her shirt, taking care to eliminate lumpiness.

Janeway breathed a mental sigh of relief. She could stare down a phaser rifle without blinking, but this would have been a stretch. In fact, she decided she'd rather face the phaser.

"Hm, the fact that you and I are sitting next to each other, coupled with the fact that we're the only ones not in uniform, presents a new awkward situation for me...am I the father!?!"

ooc: lol and so begins the compound lie...lol So who will be the cops?
