NPC: Alien

"Grr! Arrgh!" the alien screamed. The image on the view screen switched to the exterior of the alien ship. Its propulsion systems and weapons array were disabled as columns of smoke erupted from several points on the ship.

Charpy (Chakotay + Harpy) roared a huge roar and pounded his chest like an ape, then spread his wings to the extent of his shields and began spinning around as fast as he could, in an attempt to cut his way out. When he failed, he jumped up as high as he could have and then slammed a powerful fist into the ground on which he stood, blowing a hole through to the next deck, and jumping through it, escaping below with a "haa haa haaargh."

"Force fields established," Tuvok reported, "Several plasma pipes broke, but no individual injuries."

He made a pause like a human was goint to sigh, but didn't.

"Aside from Commander Chakotay - or what's left of him."

He brought the image on the front screen and watched Janeway's reaction.

Logical, sober, well-shaved and unbearably reasonable. Commander Tuvok ready to enervate you!

ooc: Okay I'm assuming that the force fields are only sealing off a section of the lower deck that Charpy is on, since force fields cannot just occur anywhere....or can they? If that can that's a bit more like a ridiculous like Star Wars ship that seems to have emitters for everything installed like everywhere.

The image on the screen showed a badly-wounded Charpy moving ever so slightly with plasma pipes in the background spewing toxic chemicals into the corridor when suddenly the image went dead as a console erupted in sparks. Internal sensors were offline and the shield emitters were destabilizing from the explosion.

Harry/Harpy began to stir with the fluctuations in the force fields containing him. "Grr! Argh!"

"Medical team and repair crew to that section! I want him sedated and brought to sickbay, and those plasma conduits fixed now." As difficult as it was, they couldn't afford to lower the forcefields.

More explosions occurred and scrambling at the controls, the acting ops officer indicated, "Shield emitters are offline! Attempting to reinitialize."

"Warp engine online," Tuvok reported, "but unstable from previous attempts of harpies tryining to enter the warpfield. I can not say at the moment how the engine would react when being activated."

"Ballpark answer, Tuvok. Would we be able to escape?" Janeway at least wanted to be away from the rest of the harpies while trying to contain those already on the ship.

"Captain, the alien vessel is now coming up on long-range sensors," the acting ops officer announced. "If we don't stabilize the warp engines, they will intercept us in 47 seconds."

Tuvok saw more data from engineering coming on on his console and he answered Janeway's question with a tiny delay:
"Yes, we will be able to escape. I have to add that also Lt. Torres can not give a guarantee that the engine won't break down in the middle of the flight, but still we will be able to reach warp 4 safely."
