"Yes, you said that, but this is the first I've heard of it, and I need to know more before making any decisions." Janeway knew that the Q all had a tendency to exaggerate, and she wanted to make sure this wasn't one of those times. Given Q jr's distress, though, it looked like it wasn't. |

"How would your death bring salvation again?" |
"So... I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But the most damning thing of all... I think I can live with it. And if I had to do it all over again, I would. Garak was right about one thing, a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant. So I will learn to live with it. Because I can live with it. I can live with it... Computer, erase that entire personal log."

Q looked a bit annoyed and said, "Well, his birth was what was supposed to bring about the salvation of the Continuum, since we'd be introducing new blood, a new perspective. But since that didn't work, the only to do is for me to sacrifice my own son to demonstrate my resolve and the futility of a Q civil war." |

"Why your son? I thought that it was a parent's job to protect their children to die for them if they have to. If you want to be a true parent Q then you must face the fact that you may have to die to protect him." |

Ignoring the thoughts of how it might not be too bad for the galaxy were that the case, Janeway nodded. "While that may be a bit extreme, I agree that you're going about this entirely the wrong way, Q. You can't just invent solutions for problems and hope that they work, especially when they threaten someone else's life." |

"Parental advice from a childless woman?" Q sneered. |

"Yet it was you I recall who was here not so long ago practically begging for your son to be raised on Voyager" |

"Ah, and now attitude from an ensign! What's next? Is B'Elanna going to tell me how to properly wrap my boy's birthday presents?" |

"Please tell me you know how to do at least that."

"Of course I do. I have his mother get the present and then wrap it and put my name on it. It's so easy!" Q2 looked at his dad with teenage disgust and whined, "Daaaa-aaad!" |

David shook his head. "That's-you know what forget it. Back to the topic at hand. Q, it seems like you don't know how to properly be a father. Doesn't the Continuum have "parenting 101"?" |

"What is it with you limited beings and your fascination with numbers like '101'? There is not a number high enough to count our course numbers! And yes, we have an equivalent, but it's obviously not being taught now because the professors are at war with each other. How do they expect me to send my kid to school?" |

"Have you heard of home schooling? Besides aren't all of you all knowing? Can't you just snap your fingers and have him know what you know?" |

"Oh please...he does know what I know, and he rejects the plan anyway! Knowledge does not equal opinion, Davey. In fact, I doubt any amount of knowledge would give you any insight into this problem, even though you seem to think you have a lot to say. So how about this: why don't you shut up and trade places with me, and see if you can do a better job, k? I'll try to pretend to be a lowly ensign for a while..." So Q snapped his fingers and David nd Q2 disappeared, reappearing in the Q Continuum. Q, on the other hand, strutted over to David's seat, picked three of his rank insignia off and threw them at Janeway, and then sat down, saying "reporting for duty, mon capitan. Don't think I gave up my powers, I just kinda will pretend not to use them for a while. I know what it's like, trust me I've been powerless on a federation ship before." He made a face at Janeway, then turned to the console and started pushing random buttons. |

David looked around and sighed. "Ok Q2, do you want to talk about this?" He asked. |
