"Let go," A'del urged on. "Let ! Only when you've learned to let go of things you think are necessary for life will you truly learn to live. LET IT ALL GO!"

Let it go. As A'del shouted the words out, B'Elanna closed her eyes. The mud became harder, her breathing harder, but the pain that was pressing against her shoulders was becoming lighter. Every day, all B'Elanna could think about was how she could help others. She worried about the ship and about her family, both Tom and Miral, and the family Voyager had become. Whenever Voyager arrived to a new planet, B'Elanna worried about what kind of damage Voyager would suffer now. The one thing she never worried about was herself.

For the first time, B'Elanna didn't think of anyone else. She didn't think of the ship and how to get home quicker. All she thought about was herself. She thought about the last seven years and how much she had changed. The B'Elanna that had been thrown into the Delta Quadrant was not the B'Elanna standing before A'del. She had been violent, quick to anger, unable to take the advice of others. Now, she had a family, friends, and a love for herself.

Torres: It was pretty boring, until Ensign Farley started snoring and then no one could keep a straight face. Of course, the Doctor wasn't at all amused.
Paris: Oo! Hockey!
Torres: It was a shame that we had to cut the lecture short, but the warp core overloaded and then the Borg invaded and we were all assimilated.
Paris: Ah ha.
Torres: You haven't heard a single thing I've said, have you?

The hardened mud was now beginning to slowly flake off the captain's uniform and A'del said something B'elanna didn't understand quite fully at first, but then the reality began to seep in even further. She had learned to love herself completely.

"Can you feel that, B'elanna?" A'del's voice seemed to be getting more and more faint. "You have taken the first steps in accepting yourself for who you are, in loving yourself fully and completely! But like I've said, this is the first step. We need you take a few more steps to fully appreciate this new level of reality of yourself. You will join the captain back on your ship. Good luck, B'elanna!"

And in the blink of an eye, the B'elanna was back in sickbay with the captain.

Harry dashed into sickbay a second after B'elanna's reappearance as the captain.

"Hi, Lieutenant," he said, looking at the captain. "I'm ready when you are to go over our away mission briefing. Don't worry captain, we'll have the report ready by 0900 HOURS. Are you okay? Why are you all covered in mud? You don't look too good either, B'elanna. Is everything all right?"

"Everything is fine, ensign," B'Elanna answered taking a step forward. "I actually need B'Elanna right now. You'll have to work on that report later."

Concerned he wouldn't meet his deadline of 0900 HOURS and subsequently tarnish his ever-clean starfleet record, Harry interjected.

"B-but, Captain..."

"Ensign, dismissed," was all B'Elanna said before turning back towards Janeway.

Something was definitely wrong with this picture. Harry couldn't quite put his finger on it though. He simply turned on his heel and walked out of sickbay, taking a last look at the odd scene of the captain all muddy and B'elanna with a look of serenity on her face.

Yes, something was definitely wrong. he went straight to Chaim.

"Chaim," he said when he finally came to engineering, leaning over Chaim who was busy fixing a blown out conduit. "Do you have a moment?"

"Why haven't we switched back?" Janeway demanded, though her more logical side reminded her that Torres wouldn't know the answer to that question. "If they did this, and we've met all of their expectations..."

The EMH was eager to try out the method used by the Banean doctor. He'd studied the procedure extensively and with some modifications, he was sure to come up with a way of switching the captain's and B'elanna's minds back into the correct bodies.

"Well, just lay down on the biobeds," he said, addressing the two women. "I can begin the procedure right away. This way please. That's it. You too, B'elanna."

"How long will this take, Doctor?" Janeway was rather eager to get back to running her ship, and it would help if she didn't have to explain why she looked like B'Elanna. Furthermore, they had to finalize the trade and get the dilithium safely stored... so much to do.

B'Elanna was not in the mood for the Doctor. She was, for some strange reason craving a huge cup of coffee. "Doctor, maybe we should talk to those that made the switch before you try anything. Plus I really need a cup of coffee."

B'Elanna's face showed the clear signs of a migraine beginning; Janeway knew it all too well. Plus, it stood to reason that Torres had only drunk one cup of coffee so far that day, and usually by this hour Janeway was on her... what, eighth? That fact was probably best left unmentioned to the Doctor. "I definitely agree about the coffee, but do you think the ambassador will help us? It sounded like they cut you off before you could get any real information from them."

"Coffee?!" The EMH gawked at the audacity of the women. "This is SICKBAY, not Quark's Bar and Grill!"
